This is a cute poem. With the weather this year, I would think it not be hard to get a jury of 12 to convict this one of at least a felony. I find him guilty. Patricia

Thanks for a great review. Elaine

I like the photo and the message. I like the scenes depicted, tone, flow, and structure. This has been a brutal winter for many people, so I can see the idea of an "arrest warrant" for the ground hog. I enjoyed reading this poem. Good job.

I enjoyed your poem. I had to laugh. There are prairie dogs in the fields everywhere, although their numbers are down. I think the groundhog thing is cute and funny but not very scientific. I know it is all staged and done with humor. I like perspective from the pdog to tell the story. I like the way you expressed his dilemma. I see nothing to change. Do try Google images for pictures. There is a basic and advanced. Try the advanced. It is easy to use. Good job and thanks for sharing.

I very much enjoyed your humorous poem about the prairie dog and the groundhog, Mermaids!
Your words flow well, and I like your short lines. You've made fine use of alliteration and enjambment throughout to increase the flow of your poem. I particularly like your final stanza:
"my life is all about
food and family
Mr. Know-It-All
can go to jail
I'll turn him in
laughing all the way
basking in my life
where breezes blow
and supper is
consumed"
Thanks for sharing this fun write! Alana

I like it. Mr Prairie Dog has every right to think he could be mistaken for a Ground Hog by Humans! Many don't have a clue. And if Mr. Ground Hog hold himself out as the weatherman...and he is wrong, Prairie dog has no problem turning the bragger in, then he can go on with his life. Fun poem and great imagination.

I have recently figured out how to use images from Google Images since fan art often doesn't have what I need. It's amazing all they have there!
I've read about that warrant for Pete :-)
good use of enjambment
great humor
good alliteration in phrases like breezes blow - a fun poem, a good instance of the unusual places a poet can find inspiration :-) Brooke

search for google images and click on it - then there's a space to enter a word or phrase, like dead deer in snow, and up pop a bunch of pictures - then choose one and right click on it

I guess the Pennsylvania State Police issued the warrant and are chasing that groundhog. I wonder if police officers in training are taught this sort of thing.

Thanks for reading and enjoying. It would be different trying to chase a groundhog. Elaine

Hi Mermaids,
This is a cute one, coming from the prairie dog's point of view. The notion of humans wanting to arrest the ground hog is funny. I would have kept that theme throughout. Oh, I just read your notes. Still, it's a quirky notion and worth expanding on.
Hugs,
Lou
