I don't understand your lines here. I don't want to jump to conclusions and I prefer to think this one is a very private work where you are the only one to know the meaning. Well done.

When I think of what that moron, Cortez destroyed, he was beyond saving. How many such as he, murdered in the mane of 'God'? Plundering and raping, destroying wonders, goodness me, Michael. I know, you are going to say it wasn't all about him, its just that I love ancient history, and so much was destroyed, and still is, and still in the name of God. How are you my friend? My love is winging its way to you. :) Sandra xsx

Well those he conquered and destroyed for one...there is evidence they practiced some fairly odd rituals...My God...the God says the greatest of all given commandments is to "love one another as I have loved you"....with your very life. do that and you will fulfill the rest.

how anyone takes that and turns into denominations and seperations at odds with one another openly or in secret disdain...is quite remarkable and obviously....opposite....just like day....and night...-headtilt-...-smile- me...O I'm all done pretending ...I've purchased a rebel flag to hang on a wall somewhere and tomorrow I start shopping for sheets...-wink-....if I'm going to be...a white surpremist I have to have the equipment. I learned that the hard way, playing football helmet less for two years...to this very day I sometimes find it hard to think...-headshake-...so...equipment is of the utmost importance Sandy. Anyway....Monday I shop for easy listening cds for my bi- polar disorder any suggestions....lol....love you-

well the scene opens in Aztec ritual...a high priest has just removed the heart of the latest sacrifice to appease the gods and abate their rath...it still beats in his hand attached precariously to veins that give this being breathing room....and says..."organ donor, don't worry...your offering stays"...as in execution of their whole civilization and peoples.

from there we head across the sea to Spain...where we find lil' Cortez...working his way right past Jeffery Dalmer...into the arms of pitiless lust...and itching to eat someone elses flesh besides his own...he brings salt and pepper and everything.

where we find ourselves caught up in his trappings for a time gone by...until he eyes his prize on the shores of Montezuma...where he turns Mexico into "new" Spain...-wink-
then we end where we begin....cause , well that's are history folks....ba ba bada a ba ba ...ba bum....love the bug-

I admit that this was hard to follow. took a couple reads and I think I get it. God thrown as God thrown out of the equation. Cortez painting the earth red with Aztec blood somehow thinking himself godly. I really cannot stand many of the early explorers, the rape and pillaging for the glory of God. if you haven't , read 1493. can't remember the author, but the true extent of explorer extermination is beyond disgusting.

Yes, sir...that is correct. but a whole bunch of other stuff too...I took the "truth" as history suggests, Neil Young's version, and my life's experience added some vermouth and made a martini...hmm hmm hmm good stuff....now first we have Spains Bonaparte born in Medillin to less than Noblemen...which sets precedent trust me...-wink-....lol...o forgot...I opened with Aztec ritual...and close with the same ...because history shows us it is...Disillusion has shown me that we all, men....are wild animals un tamable...doomed to repeat atrocity until there are no more to subjugate ...that's in there too...its innate fact...-wink-....yes Sir, I'm not much for raping and pillaging...however I have met some Baptist's who don't seem to mind.you see, what "they" fail to grasp...is the coat that covers you comes from within...its not outer garment that claims you clean. Alright my friend...I'm still working on yours...give me another day or so....lol Bug love-

Hey Pop...whats up...-smile-...yes I did, you wrote about it...."the gift of life"...yes Sir I know it is a noble and honorable last gesture of love...and many thank God for it. I was referring to the Aztec ritual of removing the hearts from their own to forestall or abate evil....alright man...bug love-

You took us on quite a journey with your historical references. Your use of alliteration intensified the message, and your wordplay made it more thought provoking--like the "thrown"/throne in the title and "soul sold" plus "hood wink" in reference to the friar! Cheers- Joan

Dear Michael, There is a lot in this one that keeps me guessing. Yet your tapestry has many vivid images that make it light up in ways I hadn't thought of.
Your opening and ending stanza for example...leave me pondering for some time.
Nicely penned and thanks for sharing.
Mo

Edit check/thoughts:

"hood wink a father from son separate sister from (her) mother" // Remove "her", I think it flows smoother.:)

Google Cortez, Spanish explorer...you will find him born in Medillin Spain...to less than....determined to be more, he set sail for not sure, except that he'd rather be dead than small....seven years delays him in a place named Azue....till a Cuban expadition sets him on his thrown on the sands of Mexico....he decieved , tricked, and turned the Aztec people upon themselves....and then devoured them. Crowned Govenor by King Charles of the "new Spain"....and later the same cycle would happen to him....cause "We"...people are crazy...and want to be gods...-wink- Alright Diane...how are you Dear....-smile- yea I'm still here bugging the big love....Michael

Yep. ...know about Cortez. Spain only wanted to rape the New World for it's gold to keep up it's supremacy of the seas over England. Pizarro and the Aztecs were a cute little piece played also. Wonder how much that Ancient Roman Catholic Church made out of it but don't go into the Pizzaro thing. My mind is too full.
Glad to see your name around as well as to see those who are gone. My writing is back to get me through once more.
