Your sister is a piece of work, eh? lol... Sounds like she's having a good time... (so far)...

This is a really easy read and it flows really nicely. I'm assuming that, as you put it together for a book, you'll take out the 'notes' which repeat themselves... other than that... I'm starting to get excited (AND sad, because I know the inevitable is going to happen).

A lot of editing before going to print. Those notes and summary are a pain in the neck. Poor Barbara led a rough life, but at least her work made her very happy.
reply by I am Cat on 21-May-2015
    Well, there's always that. :)

Yes, I imagine the repetition of putting the notes in is a pain, but then... taking it out will be a pleasure... i noticed that you just posted another chapter... and i'm like... but wait... I'm not there yet! lol

Cheer up! I won't post another until next week. :-)

Well, whether Rex turns out to be good for Barbara or not, at least she is talking to the family again. I love the internal voice you use as you let us know what you truly think of the situation, but would never state aloud because you don't want to offend those you love.

Seems family are more easily offended than friends.
    Thanks for the insightful review.A

Donald O'Conner lived with his mother for 45 years and he was a good husband with ten children. I made that up to make you feel better...but you'll be telling us how it all worked out...:)

Maybe your sister decided it was better to settle than be alone. A man living with his mother for 40 years is either spoiled, due to his mother's catering , or afraid to tackle the world on his own. But, then , the stereotype of such a man could turn out wrong. Who knows.

Your mother, your parents are people who appear to let the past stay in the past and embrace the present. Your mother's reaction to your sister's news is proof of that.

I hear a trace of disbelief and I'll wait and see tone in this chapter. I don't blame you for it. Your sister has put your family through the wringer. Maybe this marriage will bring the calm needed between your sister and the rest of the family.

Thanks, Muffins, for your insightful review. You're right about one thing. My sister was just tired of being single.

Nope - I didn't get this one. What strikes me is how forgiving your mother was, but then that's part of the job description and we're all like that regarding our own children. The glitches around here are so aggravating.

Thanks, Lou. I found the lost chapter under short works, but the word still didn't get out. My mother was more tolerant and patient than I. She always knew how to keep her feelings to herself or just confide them to others who understood.

I did not get this, so thanks for the alert. I am loving your book...it is such a snapshot of family dysfunction, and a mom's love for all her family, always wishing the best. Ma few typos: a her youngest should just be her youngest. Also, mon should be mom.

Hey Shari. I dont think i got this on my pm. I had to click on your profile.
Good to see your sister calling and I am like you- impressed that her husband insisted. I can see while you are skeptic about him being a mamas boy but hopefully he will be an exception to the rule.

I think you are right, I KNOW I never got this one in my inbox. Your sister sounds a lot like mine. She marries for money, spends it all, divorces the guy, and goes looking for the next bank account. Well maybe they have different motives...LOL Great work with this one. Glad you let us know we may have missed it.

So your sister is a user, huh. Well, it'll haunt her in another life. Watch for post on karma pretty soon. My sister's motive was simple as she told me later--she was tired of being single.
reply by Sasha on 10-Feb-2015
My sister's is just the need for more and more money.

Barbara liked to spend it, but she made it too.

Amazing that your mother was willing to make amends so quickly, but mothers are like that. Rex sounds like an interesting fellow. I'd be kindly disposed if he looked like Donald O'Connor. Such a talented, sweet-seeming guy. It's interesting that he's an accountant, so there won't be any professional jealousy between him and Barbara. Having continued to live with his mother, he sounds like a momma's boy. Meeting at church should be a good start. Well presented. judi

Yes, everything appears good, but marriage means compromise and that's hard to learn at forty plus Barb has been single for 25 years. But he's definitely crazy about her.

Twenty-five years is a long time. That would really be like starting over. judi

I'm happy for your mother's sake. As you say, the love for your children is a completely different ball game to the love you feel for your friends or partner. They know you'll forgive them (for the most part!) so stretch that one to the limit sometimes. I just hope your sister learns to settle down and her new husband isn't too much of a 'mummy's boy.'
