I really enjoyed this excerpt.
It makes me want to read the book, "Finding Daisy".
My favorite line, "Well, someone has been using fairy dust."
"Not fairies, though," said Oz.
"Excuse me?" Ess turned her attention to Oz.
"Oh, excuse me, did I say that out loud?"
You use irony and humor in your writing so well.I just thought I'd point it out, in case you didn't know already.

Oh, Ess is a mean bitch. Only an Englishman would put up with her insults and think it attractive. You guys! LOL!
Oh, Ess is determined not to let Shades move in. Not even a change of clothes. Mean!
"Shades arranged the hem of the towel decorously." Ha ha ha! I can just see it. She has the two of them so cowed!
Oooh, Shades is such a turn on with his turquoise towel. And he's so good at calling in favors. Such a fun chapter, snod. Yours is about the only posting I read and regret getting to the end of the chapter. Seriously. I've got to stop and analyse what it is that hooks me so thorougly. The humour is part of it, I know. Fun stuff, snod.
