This chapter was terrific too. I'm not finding corrections.
One thing I wondered though, wouldn't the other girls have chastised her for referring to her husband? I'm thinking you're not supposed to reveal information about your real life.
Maybe have one of the girls react to that?
I possibly might be too logical there!!

Thanks, Sue. I went back and had a good look at all the chapters after you started reviewing, I couldn't believe how many mistakes I found after I put my 'Sue' glasses on. I can't thank you enough for your input. The fact that you seem to be enjoying it is the most important part! Alexis xxx

This was an interesting chapter to read. I am sure not all the calls are sex calls. Who else can some people talk to? You wrote:
How can I help?'
Suggest:
How MAY I help?'

This work has reached the exceptional level

Laura squirmed in her seat. 'Well, yes. He was only a lad, and it didn't seem right that he was paying a pound a minute, or whatever it costs, just so he could get a bit of sound advice. He's obviously really embarrassed about his outburst in the pub when he thought his girlfriend was having an affair with someone else. It sounded as though he just needed an anonymous person to talk to...'

'My point exactly!' barked Jenny. 'That 'lad' probably earns more in a day than I earn in a week, so don't go feeling sorry for him. How he chooses to spend his money is his business.'

Laura knew Jenny was right. She really did have to toughen up. She decided to make light of it. 'Nah, you're just jealous because my call was at least twice the length of yours!' she teased.

Jenny didn't have a chance to rise to the bait because the phone rang again...
I know that the #1 rule of business is to make a profit. I have several friends who work at the Cottontail Ranch in Nevada, and they have regulars who are like boyfriends, but are ALWAYS Johns. This is getting down to the nitty gritty now. Love it

Oh, Bear! What a wonderful surprise to wake up to this morning. Thanks to you, I've gone up a notch on the ratings. I toyed with the idea of one of the women eventually meeting someone while they were working, but I'm sure nobody would approve! Thank you, my friend. Love and hugs, Alexis Louise xxx

Oh my, I never thought of that. The fact that her son could be calling these chat lines. But I love that you injected this positive image into the book. It adds another dimension to the story.

Yes, Jenny was taken by surprise by that one. Hopefully, Michael will meet someone nice and never even think of using one of those chat lines. Fingers crossed!

My daughter-in-law stripped in Vegas for a few years when my son was in law school then. Since she has a girl-next-door look, she specialized in the "girlfriend" experience, meaning she would just sit at the bar with a customer and talk to him, much like this conversation. She did way more of that than dancing on the pole, which got the big bosom girls way more money, but she made a decent living from the guys who tipped big for just getting to spend some time with her. So this seemed very realistic to me. I like the conversation among the women and their advice to let a guy spend as much as he wants to. :-) Brooke

As they say, sex sells, but there are areas where it can be very lucrative without someone actually having to sleep with anyone. That's why it's been such great fun to write about. Laura's a bit of a softy but she gets better with regard to her business attitude. As your daughter-in-law's experience proved, many men just want to talk to a pretty girl. Good for her! Alexis x

I think people get the wrong idea about places like she worked - there were all kinds of rules about no sex, no giving our real names or phone numbers, and bodyguards accompanied the girls to and from their cars to the building. Mainly she dealt with lonely guys on business trips and men who no longer had conversations with their wives. Hell, if this kept them happy, wives should be content knowing this was the extent of their "indiscretions." LOL

G'day Alexis. What a softy, that was the last thing that I was expecting, but I guess they would get all kinds of callers for a variety of reasons. Great chapter mate, cheers Fez

I must admit, Laura is based on my personality, and that's what I would have done. I'm a disgrace to the profession of sex phone operatives! It does give Laura an idea though, so maybe it was a good thing! Alexis x

I was bricking myself when I answered that call.-I LOVE the way you word things. I got it right off when you said she was 'bricking' herself. LOL A tasteful way of saying it. :-D

AW, I found the mother in me coming out as well. What a fun an unexpected twist in the middle of the raunchy phone calls. I loved it.

Looking forward to the next chapter...I've been forewarned.:-)

I love that expression too! The next one is not that raunchy, but out of respect to some of my more religious reviewers, I tried to warn them in advance in case it causes any offence. Enjoy! Alexis x

Laura didn't make a good start really if she told that first caller to get off the line and save hi money - not a good business move. Let's hope this next call she will do better - make money!

Why don't you get the next one?(')

Once again, thank you so much for your eagle-eye. It doesn't matter how many times I read through a chapter, I always miss something! Laura will toughen up, but she's much softer than the others. Alexis x

Laura now knows she could make money giving advice to the lovelorn.. LOL It just hasn't dawned on her yet! That was good advice she gave too. You are so clever Alexis. Hats off to you. :<) Nancy

I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Nancy. As I keep saying, the whole book is focussed on the funny side of the scenario, whilst taking the Mickey out of people who pay to use these chat lines. It's such fun to write! Alexis x

Another good chapter. I am a lot like Laura. I would have helped the guy too and told him to get off the line also. I did notice one correction in your title - It's noe Laura's turn - now

Well spotted- thank you! Yes, I agree with Laura, but I suppose that's only to be expected because she is the character I can identify with most. Alexis x
