There is so much truth to this poem. Children need to be talked to pretty much as we talk to an adult. It bothers me to hear parents talking baby talk to children under the age of 4. I never did with my children and they all were very good student. All three were on the honor roll in the only year they were all in HS at the same time. My oldest was the valedictorian of her graduating class of over 500 students/

What a wonderfully inspirational piece. This is exactly what the prompt is calling for. Good for you giving children credit for intelligence. Yes, they are smart and curious. They would love this. Has my vote!!

Oh man, are you kidding me?! Spinach is my absolute favourite vegetable.

Very clever rhyme with doctor/proctor. I'd say this is a poem a little kid would love to read and get motivated by except for perhaps the spinach soup part. *wink*

Children are highly intelligent but sadly the school system does the best it can with the resources it has so I guess that's why they serve bean soup. Free gas.

I like this poem, lots author, so best wishes to you in the contest.

He can be my doctor any time. I loved the poem and the moral of the story too. You've inspired me as a grown up to continue with my dreams. To become a noted author is a lofty for someone my age... but who says I cannot? Thank you for a wonderful poem and such sound and inspiring advice.

My son's first grade teachers laughed when I insisted he be tested for the gifted program - yep, you guessed it, he was failing all those arithmetic tests on purpose because he thought they were lame - I gloated so much when I was proved right LOL
solid use of abcb rhyming
good alliteration in phrases like let the laughs
and spinach soup
what a great message - yep, we adults specialize in underestimating the capabilities of so many children... Brooke

Great rhyming story, you must be so proud of your son. Children can be mean to others , not meaning to but it still affects them for a long time. I did have a little bit of a difficult time reading the font perhaps it was the gold against the blank, and kind of small too. But that's just me probably. All in all I enjoyed it very much. Thank you and good luck with with the contest!

Great motivational piece of a child not listening to lies. He grew and he knew he would be great, someday. Yes, kids can be bored with the teacher's lectures or the pesty kids that want attention. With cell phones one can play games to keep the mind alert or search for information. Can you share the spinach soup recipe?
Well done my smart friend! flylikeaneagle

This poem flows well in its story telling ways. It was written with a good form and format as well. This poem has a good positive ending to its thoughts. It has a good lesson in it for children. I enjoyed reading this well written verse... John
