I like the picture and the sentiment of this poem. It is very well written. I like the half rhymes and the way this poem flows as well. I think the poem and poetry go very well together. Thank you for sharing.

roy: The high priests blew the rams' horns as the passover lambs were slaughtered. The smell of bread filled the city as the people came to celebrate. The Lord was annointed by Mary, cried tears but...not my will Father, but yours. The passion. You painted an excellent poem story. So great! The angels are rejoicing that the lost are saved and redeemed by the risen Lamb!

So now, you owe it to mfowler to actually meet for a hot coffee late and some vegan food dish. You can call or contact him since he recommended I read your story. Little does he know that we are long time buddies too. Divine connections.

Such horror taken on the road to Calvary. But the risen Lord had a celebration parade and even the dead were alive in Christ! Wow! What a victory! Great good news story. Now...why is the church filled for funerals and then on Sunday just a few show up? What about the blue collar workers that prefer smoking and drinking parties? I'm out walking my dogs and praying for the saving grace to touch their hearts. Looking forward to meeting you at the river of life with Jesus some day roy...bring your friends. flylikeaneagle

The structure of this poem is flawless.. perfect rhyme and rhythm from start to finish. And anyone can see your faith clearly. It is a beautiful write and a tribute to you faith. In reading your authors notes and going to the why question.. I think the reason for the controversy is simple. It's just hard for some people to believe! Thanks for sharing your writing talent, nice work!

An excellent piece of writing, Roywen. A deeply thought provoking piece as well concerning Christ's sacrifice. The poem is quite dark in places although I believe that is a necessity to remind people of Christ's passion and pain.

This is Christian teaching, its story at its very core. Without the Passion of Christ, there is no story. You capture the raw brutality of Jesus' death while maintaining the central message/purpose of the carnage. Wonderfully graphic, skilfully rendered in flawless verse, if you are a Christian, and don't find this moving, I don't know what you'd need to make you excited by your beliefs. Great work, Roy.

Thanks Mark, I wrote this way back in 2000, and tidied it up a bit. But your review put a confirmation on the timing, I completely rewrote the last verse. Thank you for this most uplifting review and great, encouraging comments, the stars were a little pride on the top, blessings, my friend, Roy.

I confess that there are times when I get so distracted with what's going on in the present I lose sight of the past's significance. The death by crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth was noted in Roman legal records, but that wasn't the end. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is found in the Scriptures, which stood up to the passage of time far better than the Roman Empire did.

Thank you for posting your inspirational poem, and reminding me of what's truly important.

There was only one minor thing I wondered about: Calvary's quest versus calvary's quest(?)

Beautiful work. The perfect story written in free flowing, clear and beautiful manner. Nice work. "Christ's body etched with Holy care" - wow, that pulls at my heart quite a bit. I love your notes too.

I like that you sum up His suffering, the ravages of the body, as " His body etched with holy care", each cut and lash part of the design for redemption of humankind .

Thanks for this distinguished acclaim, comments and stars, keep writing, have you tried free verse? If you try writing with a rhythmic device, a metronome or music it might work, blessings, my friend, Roy.

Superb poem of faith, Roy. It's hard to understand how we've come so far, and yet the world seems as bad as, or worse than ever. Is it time for another crusades? Do Christians need to rise up and fight with the sword against the radical Muslims who are destroying them and want to convert or destroy all? Or do they just turn the other cheek and let the enemy win? What are your feelings on that?

I think to fight with the sword is fighting evil with evil, I think Jesus said that darkness has to flee from light, Jesus didn't raise a finger against His enemies, but yet He won the greatest victory, they fight with weapons to destroy the flesh, but the heart and spirit are indomitable, don't worry, faith doesn't see temporal things, they are passing away, but love is eternal. Great review, Phyllis, keep motoring, it will all be worthwhile! Blessings, Roy.
