Children at that age can be surprisingly single-minded and creative when they are driven by their own curiosity and working to their own agenda. You are right - outside interference is definitely not welcome!

Incredible! A six year old girl has aweful creativity to turn discarded items to objects which invite others' attraction. The child prodigy is sending a message to the world that out of mindless littering, mindful application is possible. I liked the poem for its simplicity.

G'day Jan, great work mate. I wish I had her talent, My question was going to be how old is she, but you answered it for me. Wow! That is promosing for her future, there is a guy in Queensland who built an entire house out of Aluminium cans that he collect from rubbish bins etc. Cheers and well done, Fez

Wow, you have carefully and wonderfully painted to us the image of your inventive Alexis. Every line is consistently developing a picture of an inventor from old scraps and we enjoyed reading the lines you crafted with skill. I believe your Alexis, got that inventive gift from you. God bless, thanks for sharing.

I love reading about Alexis. In addition to athletic, she is also very creative. She is a very well-rounded young girl already.

Hi, Jan,
It's amazing how kids can be so creative, think outside the box, leaving us to ponder----Who knew?!

What a lovely piece! What great insight into a creative, inventive child's brain! The flow was perfect. I loved the imagery. I could see her working on her creation (though my brain originally thought adult) without a care for outside input.
Wonderfully done. Thank you for sharing.

This is a fine poem. It reminds me of when I was a kid and made things from trash. I love the twist ended. The descriptions are pure and vivid. The free verse breathes. This was a delight to read. Thanks.

Lol, what a great ending! I had visions of this old lady foraging things away to use in her old age. As a granny, I can so identify with this clever poem. Well done!

Beauty as in treasures are in the eyes of the beholder. You sure had me fooled with the ending. Six years old, that's brilliant. Very clever. Enjoyed immensely. Les
