Part of our recycle unit in first grade is to take trash and make a product from it. The first graders love that project. I often get the parents involved. I loved your poem.

Ah, the simple wisdom of a child to create something out of "nothing"! This was very well written and draws the reader in all the way the end which shows the reader how precious and innocent is the creative mind of a child! Well done!

I figured this was about your little red haired girl by the second stanza. When the time comes, you need to gather all the Alexis poems and make her a keepsake book. How precious that will be to her.
Thank you so much for sharing, my friend,
Hugs and love,
Gayle

Ya know she might be onto something. She could make all these little things and sell them and depending on what it is and what it is she could make a lot of money. Encourage this and see what happens...I mean she is only six

unfortunately, it's all at her house right now - I hope to get over there tomorrow and snap a picture of one of her latest - I've gone back to work 4 days a week (teaching Algebra I remediation) so have limited time with her right now. thanks for your kind review - jan

I thought you were writing about a craft minded woman.
It's very sweet to know it's your daughter. Who knows
what lies ahead for her creative mind?

I think you have a "buddy genius" on your hands. I was surprised she was so young. The poem suggested a genuine artist, to find she is six. Oh my.

Her teachers are suggesting possible "Mensa" intelligence - she is creative, inquisitive, energetic, funny, innovative and so much more - thanks for reading. jan

This would seem quite possible. Try to make sure the gift of a high IQ can also be a curse.
Trust me I know. She is still six years old.

Great piece - easy to read, nice flow, and a great topic. I love to watch my grandchildren invent. You writing gave me great visuals and the desire to clean my desk. Thank you for sharing.

Thamp, I need to clean my desk, too, if for no other reason than to give her more things with which to "invent". jan

Hi Rd,
For once I'm glad I didn't read the notes first, because I got such a kick out of the surprise ending. I'm just wishing you posted a pic of one of her inventions.
Hugs,
Lou

Unfortunately, the inventions are at her house and I was home when I wrote this - I plan to take a picture of her "space ship" and add it soon - jan
