This absolutely confirms that Mary Poppins is a muse that visits you on occasion. Your line: It doesn't matter what we write, simply do it everyday - is, in my estimation, the most important line (other than giving God the credit.)

If we don't keep the motor running, it stammers and stops. Nothing uglier than a sputtering muse!

Creative take on the artwork with this one. The bottom graphic especially - took that as sweetness & light of flowers overtaking the dark face of hidden horrors.

Enjoyable read big guy. Jean

You're very perceptive, Jean, that's one of the things I like about you most of all. That is precisely my meaning behind the animation at the end because sometimes, occasionally, the light does manage to poke through the thick veils of darkness. And when that happens for me, at least, it is a revelation.

Thanks so much for an intelligent and thoughtful review. :) ~Dean

no 6s left. I need to be given more, for all the talent there is on here just eats them up. Dean, this is wonderful. Everything about it is wonderful. The rhyme, the rhythm the internal rhyming, the presentation is lovely. The words, now here is the best bit. They are so true, the last line finishes this whole piece perfectly. This was a real pleasure to read, my friend. xsx Sandra

This is yet another interesting poem that the author has created here. I thought that thus was a bit if a departure from your usual fare, but then I saw the delightful picture of the skull at the bottom. Well done.

Writing helps to keeps us grounded, aware of all life's beauty.
In dark or light, though wrong or right, it is a poets duty
to opt to think while on the brink of a poetic story,
that through it all, we're really small -- it's God who gets the glory.

I love this, Dean - it is almost - ALMOST as lovely as your poem THE WORLD SO BLUE, which I have in my bookcase still.

Hey Ya Buddy...yup it is me, alive and visting from Reno land...another two weeks , well okay three and I myself hope to be back in the saddle.
I liked the poem, cause well, I haven't been witing much and tend to foget the joy of creation and the poor muse, who is drinking coffee and contemplating whiskey...

Writing is a talent. An art. and You are correct that God gives us our talents. Use them or loose them. I tell people all the time , keep on writing, you never know who you will effect, who needs to hear your words, who wants to be uplifted and encouraged. Inspiration is all around, make notes, take pictures , keep journals. Thanks Dean , as always, you have a generous following for a reason.

This is an excellently written poem on the reasons for why poets write. You wrote this in good flowing phrases and a good format as well. Most of everything I write come from my subconscious mind. But every now and then my conscious mind will take the stage. I enjoyed reading this excellent piece of poetic art... john

This is a great poem and I think all writers on this site will feel the ring of truth in your words. But pause for thought with these lines:
"Fascination with creation, is it truly such a gift?
Or does it keep us tired and weak -- allow our minds to adrift?"
I suppose we cherish the drifting thoughts despite the tiredness. It is these musings that keeps us vibrant and spiritually blessed. Well done, Dean.

Thanks, Rod. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me about the poem.

My intent behind those two lines -- my "meaning", if you will, is based upon a personal perspective and in no way indicative of how you yourself might feel. I write well into the wee hours of early dawn, every day, for hours and hours on end. I'm sleep deprived, very exhausted and often starving. And yet, when I have a persistent idea in my head, it becomes an obsession to get it out, play around with it, then string the words together and put those thoughts down in writing. Inspiration is indeed literally everywhere.

Thanks very much for your review. ~Dean

I understand your situation and it is a good one despite the sleep deprivation, extreme fatigue and hunger--for the words are the jewels you spit out that showers you and others with tremendous enjoyment. Keep writing, my friend.

I wish I had a six for this ..unpick the lock to writers block
I was driving the hour and a half to work, grinning all the way as a chapter or three unfolded with the hum of traffic and the sliding of road underneath me. We write everywhere and it is a joy
Thanks Dean
God bless
