I like this one. Who can resist big brown puppy eyes? What better disguise than something fluffy and harmless? I guess it didn't work. I didn't think he wanted to kill her. That won't propagate his species, will it?

Enjoyed this write. The story moved along well and was an easy understandable write. For me I'm glad you didn't go into explicit detail. The amount of information was just right and my delicate imagination filled in what I needed, lol.Thank goodness I'm a cat guy. Congratulations of a fine write.

This story has a lot going for it. First of all, it is entertaining and seemed to have substance. I was having a hard time getting into the subject matter of the prompt and then something finally clicked... oh a 'horror' star. I still think that maybe a puppy is too tame an idea, because we are more in tune with Dracula or werewolves, but the picture helped some. The eyes were menacing. Good luck, I'm kind of enjoying reading the entries now!

    Thank you very much. It was a good tale, I wish I had a 1000 more words to flesh it out more.

I had a feeling those big brown eyes could be masking something more sinister! Great imagination and a very different take on horror. Three body bags, eh? Must have been a pretty gory end!
Just a couple of glitches;
reluctantly eased her foot of (off) the gas.
She wantds (wanted) to flee or fight, but his weight was too much.

Hi Mystery Writer

You certainly have come up with a new horror star. Your story is smooth and flowing, held interest and intrigue through until the end. As the story concludes we have the next unwary victim... I'll watch out for those cute puppy dog big brown eyes
in future. Though I might be immune ... I used to say "What big brown puppy dog eyes you have" ... to my first husband. lol Well done, a great entry to the contest. Good luck, some stiff competition. Warmest Regards - Lovinia xoxo

Okay then, I have a standard poodle - well, I did - am thinking about adoption papers at this moment. We expect evil to be easily recognizable, to scare us and be right in our face. It is this kind of horror that really puts us on notice - and we continue to revisit during those quiet times and encourage us to peak around corners. Good luck in the contest. AT=/

Very entertaining story... kept my attention all the way through. Of course we all knew the puppy would end up being the monster, but we didn't know when or how or why... he was trying to reproduce his kind. Too bad he can't find the right woman. Too bad for THEM! :)

I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed reading this story. I wasn't sure what Sammy really was, so I had to keep guessing and in the end, I still don't know what Sammy is. The flow of the story is great as well. I saw a typo in the first paragraph where Karen eased her foot off the gas, and you put of, but great story.

I couldn't believe that this story didn't start out by saying, "The moon was full and it was raining cats and dogs." Given the context, that would have been good, LOL.

I could almost feel the torment and anguish Karen felt for having hit a 'defenseless doggie.' Having accidentally done so, it's a horribly helpless feeling. The dog I hit had to be put out of his misery he was so badly mangled. I would have been wrong to just allow it to lay there and suffer, and it had no dog tags to identify it. It's a terrible feeling.

Poor Karen. You know, the main female lead character played by actress Dee Wallace in the horror film, The Howling; her name is Karen. She plays a news anchor who transforms into a werewolf right before a television audience.

I don't believe Sammy was a werewolf, however. He shapeshifted from the form of a dog to an inhuman monster, and his primary concern was procreating for the continuation of his race instead of pure blood lust.

You did an outstanding job of building the tension in this little terror tale.

Best of luck to you in the contest. :} ~Dean
