This story was a nice tribute to a firefighter who lost his life in 9-11. It was a well written short story and it touched my heart regardless that I don't follow sports, or have I ever heard of the Wildcats. I liked the way the author used the contest prompt to write this special tribute. You got my vote... Thanks for sharing your talents.

This is a well told story with a really good emotional kicker in the connection to the firemen who died after 9/11.
A well conceived plot, it complements the prompt beautifully. You show the plot unfolding with a good balance of prose and dialogue.

Flora's[,] father could not walk her down the aisle, (so) this was her way of honoring her father, who was one of the firemen that perished on 9-11.
