Oh, yes! Very, very clever, Michael. A inventive, creative, ingenious twist on the old 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. So that's why we don't employ shepherds these days! They're all et up..

Love it.

Ant.

I thought this was immaculately, if somewhat floridly, written. But I felt it contained a fundamental contradiction which rankled a bit for me. In Paragraph 2 you write, 'a werewolf proved no match for an angry mob'. But in the final paragraph (with its splendid final sentence) you imply that weresheep would be omnipotent. So, my question is, why wouldn't a weresheep 'prove no match for an angry mob'?

It wouldn't be one weresheep. It would be a herd of them. Once the other werewolves saw the success of the one who had changed into a sheep then they would've done so also. Eventually the herd would've been all wolves in sheep's clothing. Plus, an angry mob wouldn't have any idea that a sheep was a danger, so there would be a complete element of surprise as well. Hope that helps. mikey

Oooh, "You should be asking, 'When did that happen'" << nice conclusion! What a great story. I felt as if I were reading one of the old master horror writers, Mikey - I enjoyed this very much. Best of luck in the contest!

A tremendous commentary on the state if the world. What an exceptional meyaphorical tale this is. I so love the subtle way you tell this. Great respect for the reader's intelligence makes the impact powerful. This should win, but the voters are not always aware of something with depth. Good luck!!

Yes, it has indeed already happened I fear, Mikey. Societal influences today -- even up to and including the highest elected officials in our own nation -- are rife with corruption, volatile violence, questionable thinking, and the common man is left holding the bag and paying the consequence.

When will we ever learn? It's probably already too late.

Nice take on the prompt. Best of luck to you.

An intriguing concept, Mikey. The hills are alive with the howls of sheepish. You know how to raise the Ba in this horror fiction. This story has an interesting construction, with this third person narrative chronicling the Laserta Madrigal story as she uses her transmogrification skills to set up the possibility of werewolves outnumbering sheeps on the hillsides. Shepherd's Pie is the main delight. A spooky read with a great plot. Good Luck with this.

Mikey, I liked this Horror Fiction in a Flash contest entry. It is plain spoken but holds a wise warning within. It makes me think of the verse, "The heart is deceitfully wicked. Who can know it?" It held my interest and I found it creative. Nice work. All the best in the contest. :0 GracieAnn

Another fantastic tale and well written story.

Taking the prompt totally at face value and on a literal level. Also a meditation on the evil of man and what lurks beneath the surface.

A good strong entry into the competition.

The last line is superb and chilling.

That last sentence change the whole complexity of the story. The people was not even aware that it already happened. Quite interesting and well written. Good luck in the contest.
Have a great day.
