Love this little rant! I am in your camp totally, and the pesky yellow menaces really get my goat. I remember spending an entire morning eradicating the little buggers from the front lawn only to have the neighbor kids come home from school and sit on theirs, blowing seeds willy-nilly and giggling at the great fun. A losing battle, I know, but a good one that must be fought. Keep your blades sharpened!! - Wendy

Thanks, Wendy.
There is obviously a very clear divide between lovers and haters here!

Steve; A very well composed poem that I had an enjoyment reading. The rhyming was spot on and neither forced nor labored and very helpful in your rhythmic flow.
The rhythms cadence, tempo and meter all were of great value in determining how well your poem smoothly flowed. Dandelions seem to be the scourge of farmers and owners of lawn alike And your poems description and expression of this this light is well expressed within your great imagery. Your imagination is truly gifted and very inventive and ingeniously creative. Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always Steve.

Funny, but when I see folks who use a leaf blower to get every scrap of leaf off the driveway or anally edge their lawn or practically spray toxic green paint on their lawns- this poem is probably exactly what goes through their heads as the execute weeds. Hilarious!

Hahaha - I love satire and this writing was certainly the antitheses of all the flower worshiping posts. But I like those types of poems as well. Sorry I'm rushing this, but I'm behind on my reading. Hugs, Lou

Thanks, Lou - Yes, it's just a response to all those who put weeds on a pedestal, sometimes literally!

Ah, Steve you are a wicked man. I love you!
My lawn is too far gone for me to care about dandelions.
Of course the glares from my neighbors bother me not at all, either.
A little pop of pleasure -- why do I find that lewd? Not that I disdain lewd, mind you.
I expect you may receive a retort.
I'll be watching. Sitting in my lawn chair and eating popcorn.
Peace, Lee

A couple of dandyphile sympathisers but no real retorting as yet. Maybe I need to start shooting magpies and cute little possums...
Aren't you knee-deep in snow and ice - and still sitting in your lawn-chair? Ah, but you didn't say you were outside...

Way too much fun was this brilliantly crafted piece my friend and the artwork above brought it the feeling the farm and the Dandelions shared as they made war.
God bless!

Thank you.
They usually don't bother to declare war - just launch unprovoked sneak attacks.

Before reading your notes, I thought of Brooke's celebration of the "weed". Did the picture inspire the poem?
This is fun to read aloud with the passion and thrill of the kill.

No I did a bit of creative fiddling to come up with the picture.

LOL! I thought of Brooke immediately as I read it. Love the artwork with the big-toothed dandelion. I feel the same way about the yellow terrors. You're a terrific rhymer. And I like the humor. Well done, Steve.

Oh my goodness. This is so funny. I love dandy and daisy. Why you so mean to them. Used to pick them and bring them home to my mama. But then I used to bring home worms too.

Just having a little dig at the fanstorian weed-worshipping brigade...

I am proud to be a Dandyphile and find your treatment of the precious, and beautiful Dandelions cruel and heartless. Yet, I will admit I got a kick out of this and even giggled a few times too.
