poetry is truly a medium that makes others do some introspection. I have those ideas too. Certain things for special days. from now on I will be decking myself off for each special day.
hope for the New Year you ill have some company and not be home alone so often

Thank you. I think we should all be better to ourselves. As writers, we tend to live in solitude making it easy to wear the same old thing. Take care, my friend. Glad this inspired you~Debbie

Good for you, Debbie. You should allow yourself the luxury of dressing to the "nines". You are worth it, my dear friend.

Enjoy the best you have first-then you can enjoy the best all the time. A skip, eh? Nice to know. In yankdom we also
have thrift stores, selling used articles. Excellent.

Good Morning, Debbie,

Today is a 'special day' because I've committed to become more active in FS and I had the opportunity to read this excellent prose. You've hit the nail on the head with what makes a day special and how we should savor each and every one of them as special.

I, too, am guilty of 'saving things' to wear and/or use later for a special occasion. It is wrong to do so. It is right to wear things out, enjoy them and don't look back when they become stained, broken or otherwise unusable. Your well written piece reminded me of this truism and has encouraged me to do better.

Also, I used to lament getting older each year. It was not until 2010 when I battled cancer, and indeed still deal with some of its side effects, hat I learned each day is a blessing and each new year a gift.

Now back to the review. You've written your thoughts in a succinct manner. The theme is well developed. I found no SPAG problems. This is excellent writing.

Well done, my friend.
Ray

    Hi, Ray,

I am glad you found this on this special day and that you are back with Fanstory. It wasn't until my accident, that I realized each day should be treasured and now I will do so in something besides my nightgowns.

I really hope to take your class. Last time I didn't have the time, this time I'll need to scrape up the money.

Thank you so very much for the 6 and glad you found this write
    meaningful.

Have a wonderful evening, my friend~Debbie

A very uplifting piece. Thank you. In the UK, where I come from (and possibly in other countries as well), a goodwill store is called a charity shop and a dumpster is a skip. Maybe a note to this effect under Author Notes might be useful.

You're rich inheritance sounds a little like my rich inheritance, just simply something the poor dears have to dispose of, I loved you're essay on attitudes, you are right, everyday can be special if you choose it to, there's a vast difference between happy and joyful, joy doesn't depend on events, whereas happiness does, well done, with this work, Debbie dear, blessings, Roy.

Hi Debbie,

This sounds very much like me, always saving the good things for something special. I enjoyed reading it and didn't find anything I would change.

Hugs,
Lois

Ha ha. I liked this very much. That turn of phrase is great - 'Special is a state of mind', and one we should all try and achieve more often than not.

This was really well written and drew me along to your final conclusion nicely.

Very nicely done.
