What a very thoughtful and philosophical write.
There is deep spirituality threaded throughout and, I believe your poetry holds much truth.
Our darkest days can seem to improve when our minds are not focused on ourselves. How much better it is to give to those less fortunate than ourselves.
Well presented with a very eye-catching image choice.
I really enjoy your poetry for the varied and interesting subject choices, formatting and presentation.
:-) Shirley

Wonderful poem! And the yes, the video made me cry too. The poor guy on the street looked confused. He hadn't seen such kindness in such a long, long time!

Wish I had a six for you...

Cheers!

Jesus is my saving grace,
and I should bend my knee and pray -
my whining is a sad disgrace!
I should give thanks

I think when we are depressed it's hard...whether sad or normal depression
But Christ is there for us always
God bless

Oh, there's no doubt about that, IMO - it is very difficult. Thanks so much!

Great job, Dawn, with your poem about Crocodile Tears. It has a nice ABAB rhyme scheme and I can connect with the speaker's disdain of winter and also the quilt of even thinking about complaining when, in reality, I am SO blessed. He sees me through it all, if I just remember to let Him. 8-)

First of all, that is one creepy eyeball. I could never find where the cliché "crocodile tears".We have far more blessings then we recognize and someone else in the world is far worse off. This is always my reality check.

Awesome poem. This made interesting reflectivereading. These were my favorite lines:
I need no 'friends' when He will do!
My heart's grown selfish, love so worn.
The fabric of my happiness
without Him near is dirty - torn.

Great job.Well done!

Yes SAD is a real illness, and one not many have taken seriously. I enjoyed reading your poem, going through the dismal greyness of the Winter months, until you see a homeless man. It brings it into perspective then, for those whose only depression is down to getting cold and seeing it rain again, while all the while not thinking of the man, woman, youth, homeless and alone. I loved the video of the homeless man and the three teenagers, his face was a picture. Wonderful poem, Dawn, and a real pleasure to read, my friend. xsx Sandra

ideas: GREAT poem and utube of the homeless man with new friends. Sometimes, we need to get out of our comfort zone and help someone by music, laughter and fun. Easy and free but touched his heart. I like the crocodile tears. Glad you are overcoming the winter anxieties. Helps to have friends to chatter to. We use lights too. flylikeaneagle

What an inspiring poem. I also enjoyed watching the video of the students helping out the homeless man. It just goes to show that there's goodness out there coming from all ages. Now we can look forward to the spring, I must admit the cold and wet weather doesn't get me down so much. Knowing that we're not really alone and probably much better off than most, helps us all through the cold and sometimes miserable nights more easily. Your poem says it all so well! Alexis xxx

hello dawn

happy new year

your format is well executed
your words do tell a story
the darkness and cold of winter hit many
for many need the sun the light and warmth
you told of this situation and state of mind in a poetic fashion

thank you for sharing
enjoy the day
