In my humble opinion you do everything with a BANG! all the time, and this poem/story is no exception. This is one of those stories that has painted a picture in my mind that will be with me for a long time to come. Great job, and good luck. :-)

Thanks, Ric, I really appreciate you taking time out to R&R this for me. I appreciate that, as well as the good luck wishes for the contest. By the looks of things, I'm going to need them, LOL... :)

I've read some of your work before. You have a gift for writing this type of genre story. I like your style and how you manage to incorporate just the right kind of pictures to complement your work. I think that your wish just might come true and with this story you most certainly will go out with a BANG! I doubt that you'll need any luck in snagging the win, but here's my good luck in the contest wish anyway. Thanks for sharing your talent...

    By the looks of things, I am going to need all of the luck that I can get, K. Lorraine, so thanks for that. Thank you for your encouraging comments as well. :}

Well, well, I wonder who could have possibly written this hair-raiser about Mr. Razor? (Or should I call him Razor scissor-hands? He reminds me of dear old Eddie, with those long fingernails - goll-ee - where DOES this author get these illustrations?)

Needless to say, with a presentation like this one, there'd have to be a lot wrong with the writing not to grab and hold a reader's attention, and THAT'S sure not a problem with THIS writer...

Yup, I'd bet it's safe to say there's little anonymity when it comes to contests and certain very talented writers - their style's easy to spot (but it DOESN'T detract from the fact that the work deserves to win, when it does - so what say you? Up to the challenge of adding the artwork AFTER the contest? Give other writers a simpering chance to showcase THE|IR writing?) (LMAO) (I guess you know how I feel about this one, hmmm? Hard to miss!)

BTW - you sure do teen or pre-teenage boy narrative believably - are you sure you aren't hiding something...?(BWA-hahaha!)

Hah, well, I don't think I'm hiding anything, Dawn. I'm a fairly simple dude to figure out. I often use illustrations in my work because I was so enamored with horror comics growing up as a young boy. I guess you could call it an homage to all of those campy, cheesy stories they often generated during the late 50's, throughout the 60's, and well into the early eighties. Unfortunately, they are few and far between now, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I subscribe to nearly each and everyone I get my grubby claws on, heh-heh...

Using my "style" of writing is both a blessing and a curse at times. Many fellow FanStorians don't like me very much and they refuse to read or comment on anything I post. That's fine because my editor absolutely adores me, hah-hah!

Thanks so much for all of your support throughout 2014, Dawn, and your stellar rating and review of this work. I've told you before, you're good people...and I meant it.

Happy New Year! Let's make 2015 the best yet, whaddaya say? :)

Is it true that at last sighting Razor had two snakes, Snake Boy and Snake Gramps, one with gold teeth and one with no teeth? Ain't thataway a word? Excellent yarn.

Very nicely done. This has a suitably creepy feel to it and a great atmosphere.
Whilst reading it I felt it was quite reminiscent of Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' with the freak show having an extreme 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not' feel to it.
I also liked the diary structure to move the piece on and give it good pacing. The period touches were excellent as well with references to Carole Lombard (who died in January 1942 maybe a stretch?) and Dick Tracy comics.
Very well written and a very enjoyable read without being too disturbing!
Out with a bang indeed.

"Ghosts & Geeks" Well, I could never imagine anything like what you have created here. I found the structure very neat, and the formulation quite strong. Well done.

I did enjoy this, just as you hoped. Good job, my anonymous friend, the dean of horror:

I ran like I'd never ran before in my life. [This can be considered colloquial narrative, so this can stand, but to be correct it should be, "...I'd never RUN before..."

something different about it's eyes; [different about ITS eyes]

Have a great new year!

I enjoyed your horror story, it was written with a big slice of mystery/horror/thriller content to it, I'm glad you set it initially prewar leading up to the 70/80s. I found it was well written, with a degree of horror bite to it, the lot was well serialised over several decades, giving a timeless feel to to it. Well designed and composed, absorbing and readable, engaging and captivating, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy.

I really enjoyed your story and loved the art work too. I found a couple of small spags but otherwise it was very well written.

and pretty warm for October (too) in Jersey, (too doesn't need to be in the sentence.)

scents of seaweed and dead fish (spurned) us along (I think this word should be (spurred) but not sure.

This easily merits six. Freakish, scary, fascinating, incredible pace, visual out the backside...nothing needs to be done to this story, imo.

I think I know WHO wrote this;-)

Peace!
