Hi Dean,

You usually do "deliver a shiver" and I'm glad you do. I would never want you to be something other than yourself. There are not many regular horror writes on the site anymore but I always enjoy reading your work. I think one of the best benefits of Fanstory is that we get to read different points of view and different subjects and even try our own hand at them as well. All the best in the new year my friend.

I loved your poem. Dark and foreboding. The little gif with the alien face added to the frightfulness. Every line, every stanza is just as frightening as the one before. I'm glad you didn't end it with some mushy, sparkly, unbelievable Twilight crap.

I am horror, hear me roar and roar you do. No justification needed. Be loud and proud of all your creations be they sticthed from corpses or culled from a cauldron. A good scare always gets the pulse racing much more than traditional roses. Great poem. I'm not sure myself, but I think leathern might work better than leathered. I hope you had a great Christmas!

Good rhymes, with a nice, steady beat. I'm not a poet, so what do I know, uh?
I think you're still a big kid. You have to be in order to retain that ability to be scared of things and to want to share the horror of being frightened.
I remember when I was a kid, a vampire movie could keep me on the edge of my seat and give me nightmares for weeks thereafter. Now, it would almost take a man with a gun, and even then I'd think rationality would probably talk him out of it. LOL! Too many real things are scary now - like cancer, and heart attacks and a computer breakdown. LOL!
Fun stuff, Dean. I wish you loads of success in 2015, with publication as one of your realized goals. Well done, writer!

So sorry I am out of sixes until tomorrow but I hope my comments will make up for the lack of that special little star. This was superb and I must say that final picture really spooked me. You are a master of horror writing and it shows how passionate you are about it. I always tend to read your work during the light hours as I don't think reading them in bed is a good idea. You certainly shock the life from me, make me shiver and make my hair stand on end. (Good job I still have lots of that). Got to dash, just heard something in the dark over there... is it.... Loved this poem. May 2015 bring you even more success. Steven King move over...Genya

Excellent poem. Lines rhymed to writing.

Hi Dean -Glad you tell us in your author notes that you are a horror writer - I'd never have guessed. LOL! As usual very well written with good meter throughout - 8 syllables per line, until the final stanza that strays a bit. But so well written in good aabb rhyme form with a really grisly story line. The picture, of all the ones you have showed us so far, really turned my stomach. I really shrugged. Just as you aim for it to do I suspect. I always enjoy reading your work, no thank you needed - it's a pleasure. Warm regards Dorothy x

That's right, Dean...don't fight the feeling. Another cliche for you--you're good at what you're bad at. Thanks for keeping us entertained and scared throughout 2014. Hoping for more chills in 2015. Happy New Year!

I write what I'm passionate about... don't you? "I Am A Horror Writer" I wish I knew how to do what you do with special effects, Dean. The poem is brilliantly done. The story it tells, chills the spine. Well done.

"Who's in the dark just over there"
That was an excellent ending line for this well written verse. It describes the way you write really well. We all have different personalities as writers. This is who you are as writer. It is what you love to write about and it was a perfect reflection of the artistry in you... John
