Very well written and I was fully invested to the very end. The chain reaction of a life loss has brought unlikely friends together. I didn't find any grammatical or punctuation errors. Good luck with the contest! I think you described the sad actions of a desperate woman that has lost her husband perfectly. Just what the contest is looking for. Nice job!

Bev, what a lovely Christmas story. You very skillfully wove several of my favorite elements into this story. A bit ghostly, a lot of serendipity, and a generous sprinkling of really good people.
The first part of your story was filled with very good descriptions--especially with the winter weather. I think I actually felt the fish-tailing vehicle!
I love the poignant dream Jan had of her husband, David. You made it seem like she could've just stepped into his arms if not for the falling log.
Wonderful ending--perfect for a Christmas story. So well done!
