Ah, that was just outstanding, hence the sixer! I've been off the site for a couple of weeks, just busy as a beaver, and I can't tell you how much I enjoy your writing.
I don't know whether you saw my piece, but go to GandJPublishing.com and you'll see all our books there for free eBook downloads. Get them all and if you know people who love horses, check out the Doubletree Series. Other books available, poetry, a nice little cornucopia!
Merry Christmas, my dear friend,
Hugs,
GHayle

Hi, Gayle. Great to hear from you, my friend. And I will certainly check out the site and free e-books. I do know a few folks who are bonkers for horses LoL.
Thanks so very much for the grand and so-generous review. I really appreciate it.
Happy Holidays!
Hugs,
Bev

I love your story. It is very well-written and you developed your characters flawlessly. The plot line is excellent and compassion and generosity of spirit is a great theme for a Christmas story.

Thank you for posting this, Bev. It meant a lot to me. I don't know why. I'm not a drinking man, so it's not for that reason. But it's written with such love, compassion, understanding, without being a surfeit of any of them. It was balanced, not soupy and I like that.
Happy Holidays, Bev. You've been a friend a long time and I appreciate it.

Hi Bev,
Alcoholics who manage to go 'dry' and stay dry are few and far between. Nice story, good happy ending and one hopes the first step along the road to recovery.
Merry Christmas to you.

It is very difficult for anyone who struggles with addictions of all kinds this time of year. Thank you for mentioning that in this very fine review, Patrick.

This is an interesting and well written Christmas story. I is realistic in describing the fear and mistrust of the stranger but tender in conveying the real message of friendship and Christmas spirit.

Hi, Bev,
Nice holiday, feel-good story, and great entry for the contest.
This just goes to show that we don't always know people, and what you see is what you get, doesn't always apply.
Nicely done. Good luck in the contest. (*.*)
*Season's Greetings*
Cheers & Blessings

I was expecting a salon/haunted house, but his story will do. It is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas.

A really well written story, a tragic tinge to it with a touch of mystery even to the end, but the way they reacted at the conclusion, meant their was still some "coal in the cellar"! Although their was a lot of unanswered questions, I think this could be the beginning of a new series! The essence of a good story is that it leaves you wanting more, which this certainly does! Well done, well written, beautifully structured story! Merry Christmas to you and yours, Bev, good luck in the comp.. Blessings, Roy.

At least Jan just didn't blindly allow good ole Ranger Rick, aka; David Riley, to come blindly waltzing on into her's and Jason's home. Who does that these days, anyway? Now, you have to take precautions, and be careful, just as Jan did with the shotgun. You just never know...
"His lips formed an inverted V, and Jan guessed his smile was as rare as solid gold flatware." Pretty good analogy, Bev, especially with today's flatware, LOL...
I'd never heard the Bill W reference before I read your wonderful story, Bev. I won't forget it, though, not now.
A very heartwarming tale with a truly happy ending. So well suited for the holiday season and beyond, I should think. I'd like to think there are people out there still left in the world who are just like Jan and Jason. I have no doubts that you yourself probably are, since you've written the story.
Well done, and best of luck in the contest.

Dean, thank you so much for this grand review. I'm happy you noted the bit about the shotgun. As you said so well, it'd be pretty stupid to be unprepared for danger. And thank you for that lovely closing comment. You're a real gentleman, Dean. I appreciate that about you.
Holiday Blessings, Bev

I try, Bev, although some make it kinda hard at times, LOL.
You're very welcome, my friend. ;)
