Debbie; an interesting tanka that is full of expressive and descriptive imagery and a distinct and clear message. Children of all ages must really like the fact that they get colored and different styles of paper to express themselves with their art. And how effectual and climatic it is for them to enjoy such a medium to work with. This is how important a simple piece of paper can be to a child and how effective you have written that into a poem. Thank you for sharing and posting and may you have a very Merry Christmas and a very happy new year.

This was mostly poking fun at myself as I have a need for every color of paper (you should see around my desk). I am the same with pens--all types, all colors. Thank you, my friend~Debbie

LOL Debbie you had me laughing over your "fetish" on paper :) My Ainsley was like that too, the stuff she collects... Great little poem with a hit of humor that made me smile.
Thanks for sharing.Happy Holidays

Dear Debbie,
Your well written Tanka shares with the reader your enjoyment of papers. I can just visualize that your office probably has lots of fun shapes, colors and styles as your poem suggest. And on that colorful array of supplies, your thoughts and feelings are preserved.
Love, Carolyn

I understand. I share your love of paper. What an odd thing to treasure, but here we are, both paper freaks. LOL! I collect paper patterns online too. I've printed them as backgrounds on homemade scrapbooks. When I taught the younger kids in school for a time, I fell in love with our art supply cabinet with all its wonderful STIFF (back then, not now) colored paper. What fun we had crafting silly things from it. Loved the fragrance of it too... ahhh...memories. :)

Another paper lover. I love thick paper and always insist on 'feeling' it before buying it. Before 2010 when I started writing, I was an avid crafter. I did some last week to take a break from Fanstory. But with the new year, new writing to be done. Take care, my friend~Debbie

A lot of people thoroughly believe in keeping a written copy of their thoughts and feelings. It's a way for those in the future to get to know their past relatives. Not to mention, it might help to be able to review some good times when things are going rough.

Thanks for sharing this. JW

I back up my computer, back up the back up and then print it out. I can open to a page and tell what was happening in my life when I wrote it. Take care, my friend~Debbie

How interesting, your Author Notes. Are you saying the content written on paper changes with the color of the paper?

I think I would agree with you, but as a writer I wonder at using words to "color" the background.

Clever poem Debbie, I never thought of my writings or yours for that matter as being like colours! Writing is such a great way of keeping chronicles of one's life and and times! Apart from the obvious referance to being a stationeryphobic, but well done with nice tanka, exclaiming your propensity, well done, Debbie, Blessings an merry Christmas to you and yours, Roy.
