Your incredible talent never ceases to amaze me. I just loved this poem and the marvelous story that it told. I have no doubt Charlie enjoyed it. He is a marvelous write and I love his work too. Sorry I took so long to get to this one...been busy recuperating.

Pure brilliance. This is, without a doubt, the best thing I've ever read on FS to date. You're definitely in a league of your own Dean - not just here on FS either.

PS- Yay for Marion! A bittersweet win (to say the least!) but.. A payback none the less.

Hi. I am back from my travels and trying to catch up. I enjoyed this wee yarn and well, I like western stuff...but yours had your tocuh and that made it special.
May you be well through the holidays and beyond.

Its amazing to me how you can do a western poem and slip in the perfect words like "spinster" as an example. The correct word usage through the story in poetry creates the imagery and the realism of the setting. I love the talk, attitude, and the grit of the old western stories and this really, really, was a great story in rhyme.

Merry Christmas!

G'day Dean Another great write mate. You are the master of the various styles and they are all portrayed so brilliantly. And yes you are correct, Charlies work is great. Cheers Fez

Ah, Dean, I swear you can write anything. This definitely captured the Western 'flavour', and although it wasn't the usual fright-filled (gory, gruesome - LOL) writing I've come to expect most often from you, it was a wonderful story poem that I found, rings with sadness.

Nicely done (as always).

Thanks, Dawn. I thought I'd try to end the year on a much kinder, gentler note. But, never fear. I'll be back next year with a horrific vengeance, LOL.

Thanks so much again for all of your kind support throughout the year. You're a great person, so never change, you hear?

Top-notch, Dean! Sad, but still an awesome story. Good to know Randy bought the proverbial farm. Off track, that drawing of Marion is quite provocative! Beautiful woman with a beautiful heart. Poor Joe...And of course poor Marion...

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Dean

I love the concept and you story reads well in dialogue and narrative. I find a few hiccups in meter with a few lines and after three readings. Of course I'm no meter expert and it may just be me and the afternoon wearies ... I'm only just starting my pm coffee. What I really thirst for is a nip of a few choice jugulars ... I might go and hang out in the mulberry tree and see who might be strolling by ... just waiting for the sun to go down ... damn daylight saving ... a gal hasta go thirsty.

I digress ...
You capture the wild west and nothing better than a good shoot-out, even better, a double shoot. Randy got his just deserts ... hehe. All that ... choke ... choke ... dust .... give me a good sea shanty. A grand tale well told. Love the images. Shady Lady ... lol. Nice to dedicate to Charlie. Hugs Lovi xoxox

Wonderfully clever, Dean. I found this to be a compelling tale from start to finish. Your characters were well chosen and you gave them authenticity and personalities without overdone descriptions. (I'm afraid one of my (many) peccadillos is reading overly described characters.)

Poor Marion never got over Randy. I've known a few widows like that; very sad. Maybe in her next incarnation. I'm guessing Randy didn't become a zombie, but I was ready for it!

Cheers to you for a great tale!

Brother Dean, I really like this poem, because I know where it took place, and when, and who the characters were involved.

YEAH I DO!

It took pace in an Arizona town, called Casa Granda, may years go in the late 1800's. Randy was my Uncle on my fathers ie, in other words he was my uncle. His name was actually Randolph but everyone knew him him called him Randy.

Naww just kidding.

Have a blessed Holy Day

Your Buddy in Christ,
Jerry
