The Bible says little about the life of Jesus until he was baptized. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an inspiring read. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Roy. Charlie

He has a way of doing that Roy, doesn't He? Once we allow Him into our lives His love seems to spread, if we allow it to. He blesses everything we get involved in; our home life, our business, our day to day associations with others.

Your poem was beautifully written, a heartfelt, well rhymed write, a thinking man's , "Away in a Manger", if you will.

Well done, and I wish you a very Merry Christmas. ~Dean

Wonderfully strong yet very sweet un-preachy statement of your faith, Roy.

Whether he was the son of God or not, Jesus was a truly magnificent man.

As you say, he lived very humbly - in stark contrast to the men of the church nowadays, many of whom live in luxury and preach charity.

Top meter, rhymes and enjambment throughout.

IMO, no need to abbreviate 'every', as it has a silent middle syllable, and abbreviations are always best avoided if possible.

I don't recall ever giving a sixer for a religious post before, but this is well worth it, I reckon.

Cheers, Ray

Thank you Ray for this outstanding review, comments and stars, just for the record, I don't know one pastor or leader in the church who hasn't given up more than he receives for the sake of the gospel, it's just like religion starts all or most wars, not! the church is slandered so much, but most charitable movements are Christian, you don't hear that, on the island of Bali there 12 orphanages, 11 are Christian, preparing them for work and educating them, you don't hear that either, Christ was much maligned in His time, He said if they hated Him they will hate you. I don't know how much evidence you need about Christ's claim to being God, in Christ's life there were 353 Old Testament prophecies fulfilled till His death, there is more evidence of Christ being who He said He was than Napoleon Bonaparte! If He's not He's either a lier or a madmen, sorry Ray, but if you were misrepresented you'd be angry too! Blessings, Roy.

Thanks for your very eloquent and interesting reply, Roy.

I much applaud those Christians who selflessly give their time to help others, but I don't remember the Pope, for example, getting his diamond encrusted fingers dirty.

As I'm not a Christian (but not an atheist either), I don't count words written in a book thousands of years ago, and since translated countless times, to be 'evidence', with the upmost respect.

I'm sure Christ BELIEVED HE WAS THE 'SON OF gOD', BUT THAT COULD BE A METAPHOR BY HIM TO IMPLY WE ARE all SONS OF gOD.

whether HE WAS OR HE WASN'T LITERALLY, DOESN'T CHANGE MY VIEW OF HIM AN INCH - HE WAS A magnificent MAN.

    Sorry, capslock.

    Cheers, Ray

I love the true humility of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who came to earth with no wealth He made himself poor to make us rich. Our God and Saviour was born to fulfill the prophecy of saving mankind from sins. The devil controls people of today.Saving the lost people is what Our Saviour declared not on His birthday.Sad thing to note that people did not know the essence on why God lived once on this planet earth. He has to die on the cross and shed His blood in order to forgive us in all our sins. Then live in God's righteousness.Christmas is not celebrated by true Christians because they gave value on the gospel of Christ than materialism. Thank you.

G'day Roy. Brilliant work mate. It flows like a stream and is a very beautiful read. I would have entered it a contest if it was mine. But you have loads of talent and I'm sure you will enter one in the Christmas poetry contest. Cheers Fez

Another timely and sweet Christmas offering. There were a couple of lines that read awkwardly, though they were well understood ("who died my sin to ban" and "nor own the clothes He wore"). If you want to read an amazing book about Christ capturing the hearts and souls of two women (and all the conversions that have occurred as a result), I heartily recommend Captive in Iran. Though Saeed Abedini remains imprisoned there, Maryam and Marziyeh were miraculously released...

I like the rhythm your mostly abcb rhyme scheme and tetrameter/trimeter iambic beat creates. Very easy off the page. I like to use that myself when piece needs to fly or enthuse. This is of course the declaration of faith you inevitably declare, so well summarised in:He's captured every part of me
my soul, my heart, my day
It zings with love and enthusiastic response to the sacrifice of Christ for your life. Each time you say it,the spirit moves you to dies play it, in ways unique and uplifting.
No difference here.
This verse, I loved.
He Left His wondrous throne for love
to walk the dust of earth,
exchanged His riches for a trough
revealed to us our worth
