I really enjoyed reading this. I know some people that would greatly benefit from reading this. You did a great job of writing here. Keep up the good work.

That was a very well written story, very heart-warming. Maybe, that was just what he needed to turn his own life around. The characters were well drawn and likeable, the descriptions of setting were very good and the story had a good message. Most enjoyable. Faye

This is a well written story - and it's message could not have come at a more coincidental time.

You see - and I'll try to keep this short. Like Rob, I'm in my early 60's, and for the past few years worked at a small apartment complex as the building and yard maintenance person. In doing so I had enough to financially survive, and I got free rent, utilities, and Internet access.

Early this year my landlord/boss had a stoke and his health has been failing every since.

Unfortunately, as a result of the above, he informed me and all tenants recently that he's going to sell his properties, and he wants all of us to move within six weeks.

Thus, I'm now out of a job, I'm going to lose my residence - and I have very little savings.

Unless I can quickly find a new full time job and place to live ... well, you can imagine.

Like I said - the message of your story could not have come at a more coincidental time. At the thought of losing everything, it's been hard not to give into depression. JW

Very good story. I was completely involved with it, which is rare. Great ending, too. THe ghost was there to tell the guy not to kill himself, without actually saying it. :)

Thanks for reading Brooke and for your kind and generous feedback. I've had several responses from people who are the same age as the character and are having hard times. Maybe there was a reason I wrote this story. Thanks again for your continuous support and encouragement. Warm regards, Bill

This story really hit home. Yesterday I retired from a thirty year career, not of my own choice. Rob's character really spoke to me. I have read lots of historical fiction. You did a nice job of writing in that genre.

"I never forgot the look in his eyes as he DYED." DIED.

Wow, can you tell a story! I was mesmerized all the way through it, and I actually had tears in my eyes when I came to the end. What a storyteller you are, Bill. I bet everybody gathers round when you tell your grandkids stories.

I tend to agree about suicide. It's not a noble way to go. I don't mean assisted dying, where someone is already going, but to kill a healthy body....It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
What can I say, Bill? You can write. This is a gem.

Very interesting story. It kept my focus throughout. Your description was excellent. I felt like I was standing behind Rob as you were telling the story. I hope to read more of your work. And, oh yes...you have a lovely, beautiful muse.

A man loses tolerance as he ages, for heat, cold, guilt, hate. When his tolerance gets narrower than life, he's gone.
What a lot of wisdom goes to the worms...excellent yarn.

If those in the cemeteries could talk, we would have a more colorful History. This is very well written with a smooth smooth flow of words. Well worthy of a sixer.

Thank you Charlie - we get so few sixes, and to get one at the end of the week is really special. Hope you have a great Christmas! Bill

You're welcome, Bill. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas. Has Rabbit be put on the dusty shelf?

Charlie - I'm trying to tweak and re-write the whole series. I would like to get it published, probably not a novel, but a novella. Getting to that next step ain't easy!

I'm in the same boat. I have nine novels and no money to publish. Good luck to you.
