I am 5'1" and when I was pregnant, the baby stuck straight out. When I was only 5 months along, people would make comments about the baby being due any minute. Great poem - I enjoyed it - it brought back those memories:)

This interesting poem tells not only of the coming birth, but of the mother's re-birth as she truly blossoms into womanhood. Such an appropriate poem for the time of year. Wishing you a happy Christmas and a joyful delivery.

Thank you for your comments and generous rating. My delivery was long, painful, drug less, natural and 39 years ago. My son weighed 11lb. 12 oz. and I'd like to say it was all him... but that would be a lie. Even after 39 years, I still retain 'baby weight'. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas too.

I think every mother-to-be can relate to this feeling. I remember it well, along with sickness and toxemia. She is definitely ready to get her own body back. Seems like it never goes completely back to the way it was, but pretty close. Hope the rest goes well or did if baby was already born.

Hi, Quoiky,
This brings back memories when I couldn't see my feet, let alone get of out a chair without help the last month. Nothing like being preggers to put things into perspective! LOL
Fun read and walk down memory lane.
*Season's Greetings*
Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Jax (*;*)

A lovely, funny finish after a rollicking shorty. Pregnancy is a complete mystery to me as I am a man. Even so I appreciate all the intricacies of preparing for motherhood. I am a great-g Dad after all. I have wondered often though, how women do not have a resulting bent back after the extreme exertions of pregnancy. A joy to read and appreciate. Eric

Your body may thin
to the size it's bin,
but the truth is cruel and stark,
that you've been changed
yes, re-arranged,
Please meet the ol' stretch mark!
Nice piece of fun.
Welcome to fanStory!

Ha Ha Yep... I've been there too although not so much of the wide problem since I'm 5 foot eight, well used to be! The way I'm shrinking and by the way my bones are crumbling could easily end up your height! Don't envy me, I used to get all the high windows to clean!

Thank you for your comments and generous rating. Please accept my apology for your 'tallness'. I always wanted to be at least 5'10", but now that I've read your comments, maybe not. I hate washing windows. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

LOL. It's great when someone can make fun of themselves and laugh along with the reader. The last line really finishes this off in a great fashion. Wonderfully written. Les

Oh - how I can relate. I think that forcing a mother to swell up as large as a blimp is nature's way of preparing us for birth... at some point, I didn't really care HOW it happened, but I wanted that baby OUT!
Well rhymed, clever phrasing and rhyme scheme! Thank you for bringing back all those delightful memories! (NOT!)
Warm regards,
Christina
