Hi Teresa,
Oh sunflower so bright, following the sun's path each day, now you lie upon the ground, where the birds can feed on you. A fitting end to a sunny life.
Season's Greetings,
Winslow

Sun flowers are one of my favorites. They give so much joy in summer and then continue bring happiness to the wild birds. Great choice for the contest.

Great art choice and wonderful imagery. I love how nature provides for all, with life from death.
Excellent.

I love sunflowers, they are so glorious when in full bloom, then they are so useful when they seed. Well chosen words and fitting illustration. Good luck in the contest. Faye

Refreshing to read something not so 'flowery', as this one is dead. :-) At least it had added value, as 'bird feed', too.
Stunning 'corpse' picture.
I hope this does well.
Cheers, Ray

Oh yes, i can certainly attest to the truth in this haiku! We have a huge field of sunflowers just behind our home. After they die, the field comes alive with birds of all varieties, and during the warmer months of early fall, their chirping and incessant vying for position for the tastiest morsels is like a six am wake-up call. it is that noisy!
Very well done, and I wish you the very best of luck in the contest.

Thanks so much Dean. I never thought about how many birds a field would attract - lol.
