This was a well written addition to the saga, in which I spotted no spag. Drugged or not drugged by a peppermint. The poor fellow doesn't even know what a normal one looks like!

Thank you for reading, Nicole. There was no peppermint and no drug, of course. Lorna and Blake made it up as an excuse for BLake's inexcusable behavior. :)

An excellent chapter which was well thought out to create the
that scenario and make the entire event seem so real. One thing though I wonder why you had to incriminate Clay to get the senator out of the situation

Thank you so much, Erica. Keep in mind that I didn't incriminate Clay.... Lorna and Blake did. Cuz that's what they would do to win. Sadly, politics is really cut-throat for many corrupt candidates. This is corrupt senator and his "win any way you can" corrupt lawyer, so that IS what they would do. Ruin Clay's reputation by casting suspicion and he will lose the election to Blake. That's the goal, and nothing can stand in front of that goal in dirty politics.

I agree. I love the irony though. You didn't incriminate Clay Lorna and Blake did

Again, I apologize for taking so long to get to this. Life has been hectic but I hope to finally be back on track. Seem the press conference went very well. I wonder if Blaze will be as impressed with the Senator now that Luke no longer possesses his body.

Thank you so much for reading, Sasha. I know your time was taken by that ugly "real world" and you have my sympathy. As for Blaze, she is NOT interested in an affair with Luke, so maybe it will be BETTER if Blake isn't possessed by him. Or maybe not. We'll see. :)
reply by Sasha on 02-Dec-2014
Personally, I'd prefer the Senator not be possessed by Luke either.

Blake seems the sort of creep to wake Blaze up after too many years in Hell. There was a show on TV the other night called 'The Psychopath Next Door.' They could have been describing Blake. Apparently they do very well in politics. I expect things will get interesting when Clay starts fighting back, and Blaze turns on Blake and Luke.

Thanks so much, Cindy. Clay can rant and deny all he wants. Once the press gets an idea in their heads, they will NEVER admit they might have been wrong. His life is ruined. That's what the Devil and the folks following his evil ways do to the world, I'm afraid.

Hi Phyllis,

The media keeps getting worse and worse and the mindless people like it that way. You're doing a good job incorporating this frustrating phenomena into your story.

Hugs,
Lou

Thank you so much, Lou. I can't help it. I have to complain since it's so damn frustrating to see what has become of govt "of the people, by the peopla, and for the people"... no longer even close! We're at the mercy of a bunch of corrupt thugs on both sides of the aisle.

until waking up in the hospital.(")

Thanks for reading, Margaret. Clay is innocent. There was no mint. The lawyer made it all up to excuse Blake's behavior, since there was no excuse for it... none that mortals would guess, anyway. Luke had been in possession of the senator's body so he could ruin Ginger/Tara's wedding to a human. Meanwhile, Blaze is swooning over Blake because she had sex with him... well, his BODY at least, with Luke in it. It's the only time she gave into Luke. Never before and nevr again. So Luke is mad at Blaze and gave her this "impossible" assignment to make her fail so he could bring her back from Earth duty. She got lucky and met Lorna... they made a good team.

In case you're interested, here is the synopsis I wrote for a new reader.
    _______

Blaze was Ginger's (now named Tara, since moving to that woman's body wiht God's blessing) best friend in Hell when they were demons together. She was Luke's secretary while Ginger was his assistant. In this book, Luke promotes Blaze to Earth Agent to take Ginger's place, and TRIES to make her take Ginger's place in his bed, too, but she wants no part of that stuff... not with him, at least.

Tara/Ginger invited Blaze to her wedding reception, but not to the church. Tara has been told by Father Murphy and by Franny (in visions) to forget all about her old life in Hell and NOT to associate with Blaze, who has come up a few times to visit her since she misses her. Turns out it's too awkward and Tara can't handle it. She tries to suggest gently that one requirement of her redemption is that she break all ties with her old life, but Blaze is hurt, and then gets angry... a very human reaction for a demon to have. :)

Blaze finishes agent training and goes up to Earth to get a job and an apartment. She lands a part time job (all she wants, since she needs time to work on Luke's assignments...the job is just for show, so she won't cause suspicion). Turns out, by sheer coincidence, that Theo hires her to be his accountant for the dance studio, which is now jointly owned and run by him, Cherise, and Tara/Ginger. He does the business stuff and gets them bookings, etc. He is too busy with his main job elsewhere to do accounting too. So Blaze is hired. She does not realize at first the nature of the business she applied to. When she learns Tara will be there every day, she is pleased. Now she has a good excuse to see her old friend... and maybe to torment her for ditching her? Tara still doesn't know who Theo hired. That chapter is coming up after we finish the part with Sen. BLake, who will be in the story for a while and be the cause of Blaze becoming a vigilante fighting for justice...which is what the subtitle mentions.

Meanwhile, Luke is furious to hear that Ginger (Tara) is marrying Gary, a human. He is powerless to harm her since she has God's protection now, but he does plan to wreck her wedding and maybe stop or delay it. His plan is to possess the body of a corrupt senator he knows, Sebastian Blake, and go to the wedding with a message about a new law. He does just that, and tells the congregation they just passed a new marriage law, not about gay marriage, but prohibiting humans from marrying demons. He tells the whole churchful of guests that Tara is a demon and her real name is Ginger, etc. He makes such a scene that Murphy signals someone to call the cops, who take him away to the County Mental Hospital. Blaze witnesses the whole thing, scine she went to the church without an invitation.

THe night before LUke goes to the wedding, he comes down to Hell in the senator's body, and Blaze falls for this gorgeous hunk, allowing Luke to have sex with her. She found Blake to be an awesome lover, after she told Luke to just let the body take over. THey did it several times and Blaze was really smitten. She told Luke to keep that body, and he was planning to, since it helped him to finally get Blaze to bed.

But, since Blake's body with Luke in it ended up trapped in the mental hospital, he had to leave it. He did so with the first person corrupt enough to accept his evil spirit--Blake's lawyer, who is a woman named Lorna Blair. She ignored Hospital Administrator Jack Clearwater's orders to wait in his office and just marched into Blake's room and threw everyone else out wiht threats of lawsuits, and then she started to talk to the man she THOUGHT was the senator she worked for. He told her to come close so he could whisper since the room was bugged, just a trick to move into HER body. Luke went back to Hell as Lorna, leaving the real senator to wonder what had happened.. of course he couldn't remember, since he was unconscious the whole time.

Turns out that Luke is angry with Blaze for turning down his advances as Lorna (!) which he thought might be fun, and she told him the only reason she ever had sex with him was because of Blake's body. He got angry, so, out of spite, he wants to make her fail as an agent and bring her back to Hell to work with him again, knowing she would hate that. So the FIRST assignment he gives her is to get Blake out of the hospital and restore his reputation in time for next week's election. Blaze says she'll do it but has NO idea how.

She finds a helper tho. When LUke gives up Lorna's body and puts on his robo-suit, he tells Blaze to take her up to the surface and leave her somewhere. Blaze takes her up, but Lorna asks for a ride. Blaze agrees, they get to talking about the senator, and Lorna has a plan that requires a partner. Blaze is happy to assist her. Her job was to distract Adm. Clearwater by flirting with him outside on the grounds while Blaze went into his computer and changed some files, adding others.

Lorna then confronted Clearwater about what's in his files. That is all in Chapter 18. If you were to read it, you would see what her plan was and that he had no choice but to go along with the deceit.

All of this was to get Blaze together with Blake, as well as to show what liars corrupt politicians like Blake really are... as if we needed a reminder! :)

This was beautifully slick. Wow. That came across so well. Hahaha. Evil can be so entertaining when it is shown to be clever and devious. It is so often portrayed as bumbling. It must be clever sometimes or it wouldn't exist. :) Great chapter. And now for a little interlude. mikey

What a clever way to manipulate the crowd. It sounds too real. How anxious the media is to slander a man on the slightest of evidence. No wonder Luke frown on human behavior. LOL

Ha! Isn't Lorna being a good friend, letting Blaze have some alone time with the senator. I guess Clay will have a lot to answer for now that the seed has been planted. 8-)

Thank you so much. Clay will lose the election, of course, since the truth never seems to come out till AFTERWARDS. :)
