Your promo offers a very strong overview,thus alerting readers that the protagonists - in this romance - have extremely complex dynamics.
Two points for your attention: The use of "practically" to describe an almost daily frequency of beatings seems a bit of a mouthful; I wonder if "almost", or "nearly" might suffice. It's because this word snagged my attention causing me to re-read the statement that I think it worth mentioning.
The second set of asterisks to define text separation may not be necessary. Might repeated separation serve to interrupt reading flow, if only by visual presentation? I expect readers would realize the preceding paragraph to lay elsewhere in the story. Just food for thought.
Your chapter 2 extract highlights the reality of spousal abuse in no uncertain terms. It may prove a difficult read for many. On the other hand, bringing light to a difficult issue in our society is a credible goal. Well done.

I had almost then felt I was using the word too often. As for the ***, I tried not using them and my reviewers didn't recognize the text separation, so I started using them. Thank you for the kind review.

Wow! I must admit I actually don't personally know a man or woman who beats his/her spouse. We just celebrated non violence against woman day, I find any abuse whether physical, verbal or otherwise incredibly abhorrent! We just celebrated non violence against woman day, I find any abuse whether physical, verbal or otherwise incredibly abhorrent! I don't think many women stand for this these days, but once knew somebody who had a life similar to this, but she refused to leave. These people usually have a hook for their victims. In my friend's case it was money for her sick child.
