Hi Dean I thoroughly enjoyed your dark poem based on Greek mythology. Your imagery is vivid and there are some god examples of alliteration. Unfortunately my youngest brother decided to get on the Ferryman's ride when he was 33! Very sad!

this is an excellent write, dean, you did an excellent job writing this poem about the death that comes for those who seek it and those who do not. I like your author notes. indeed, if this can save one life, it's all worth it.

Dear Dean - as always your work makes me shiver at times, spooky in so many levels. I loved the message within this as it bloomed later in your lines. Darkness and pain hit us all at certain times and that journey can be a lonely one without support.

As always your stark imagery, clear emotional hits of the dark side speak volumes to those of us who have walked them. Excellent post, well penned with your usual flare and drama.
Great job my friend and thanks for sharing.
Maureen

    Thanks so much for taking time out to weigh in on this work for me, Mo. You're right, I didn't post this horror strictly for the sake of posting something horrific (in more ways than just the narrative, perhaps LOL), but to also make a statement and turn it into something positive, while still being entertaining to read.

    Again, thanks for the review and kind comments. As always, they are appreciated. :}

tis sad people end their life when their life is just beginning. it is sad they have to go through life with such stress and depression hanging over their shoulders.

This a truly awesome poem that does covers many areas. The words themselves depict Death well and create his eerie presence in the world. "His fleshless face locked in an ethereal grin" The artwork is insane, and the placement of the kinescopes adds life, ironically, to this ode to Death. The thrust of the poem seems to be about suicide prevention. With the holidays here, that activity will be on the rise and it's good to remind people with loved ones who fit the statistics to be vigilant. Always a privilidge to witness your work, Dean.

    Thank you, Bill, as it is always a great privilege to receive your reviews, my friend.

    You touched on some of the key points I wished to make in this poem, and suicide prevention was indeed my primary reasons for writing it they way I have. As you say, the holiday season is fast approaching, and while it is a most joyous occasion for most, is is the end of the line for others.

    Thanks so much again for the exceptional rating and commentary. All are greatly appreciated. :}

Parents should be the first line of defense for a disturbed child. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

There is so many young ones these days, thinking they have nothing to live for. It is so sad. Excellent poem, with a good message after giving the awful bit at the beginning. If youngsters could just see what they are giving up, really giving up, without trying, there would be less suicides.
xsx Sandra.

More like it. In the hell hole, but still holding on to the truth of the world. Your advice not to jump into the Ferryman ride is a timely one. For you never know the boneset of the King of the Stygian Kingdoms. There is horror and pathos in abundant measure. Plus something to sooth the nerves of the distraught parents. As usual, an unusual stuff!

    Thanks very much, ravim, and I thrive on the "unusual", LOL. Hey, why be normal? There's too many of you "normal" people walking around now as it is!

    In all seriousness, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to R&R this poem. It is appreciated. :}
