What a serene picture. Your profile page says Gainesville, FL. Is that where you moved? An hour away from me. I live in Summerfield between Ocala and the Villages. Love the last stanza in this. Not much noise in my fifty plus community either and I love walking the nature trail.

Hi Spitfire: I have lived in Gainesville, Florida for about three years. I just moved about two miles down the road. I've never been to Summerfield but I've been to Ocala several times (got lost there once) and know of the Villages. If you are ever interested, maybe we could meet for lunch sometime. Right now I have no transportation so the driving would be on you. l.raven and I have met twice for lunch when she was in Florida from Illinois, visiting her family. We've had a great time talking and getting to know each other. She is a lovely person.

Thanks for reading this piece. It was a quickly written thing and I didn't spend any time really developing it so this is the raw form. Linda

Sometime in the future, maybe we could arrange to meet at a restaurant in Ocala. I'm not good at driving long distances. Right now, my hubby is not in the best of health and suffers from cognitive impairment. I can't leave him long or he panics.

Spitfire: I understand. I'll have a vehicle in a few months. We'll talk about it then. Sorry that you have such a burden with your husband's poor health. Linda

The quiet of inner peace matching outer peace, no critical voices from without or within - yes, a much healthier diet. Sometimes, we just have to walk away.

Your poem on the theme of silence is a pointer to what is generally missed. We are so accustomed to noise and useless talks that we do not experience the beauty of silence. Noise is not good either for the body of mind. So it is a blessing in disguise to spend quiet time.

Linda, I'm happy for you and the new location. I live alone and like it as well. Even though your photo is borrowed, it adds to your poetic piece with a pleasant peaceful appearance.

I hope you are feeling well and be careful moving heavy things. Don't do too much and rest a lot! Smiles. Carole

Thanks for reading, Carole Rosa. I did not lift anything heavy when I moved. My daughter and her 18 year old son did all the carrying. I'm comfortable and everything is in its place except for a few candles and all my DVD's. Thank you for thinking of me. I pace myself and rest when I need to. Linda

That was an interesting piem with a twist of humor. It was enticing, seductive, enignatic and flowed well. The picture was awesome.

Thanks for sharing.

Ah being alone is kind of great for a writer. I love it. That picture is quite suitable for this poem. It looks so peaceful. Great job.

Hi, just joined this site and really love it. I live just a little east of Gainesville.
I started to tell you that your picture looked like my area.

Your words reminded me of the lyrics to the song, "where never is heard a discouraging word, and the skies are not cloudy all day" but it's true that a quiet place, when I'm writing or reviewing while watching tele, I turn the sound down and I can concentrate! Great advice, clothed in wisdom and articulate free verse Linda, well done, good advice we should all heed, blessings, Roy.

I like the picture and your poem. It made me think to the end of this summer. We had our oldest boy, his wife, two kids (8 and 2) and dog stay with us for over two months. The one thing we loved when they moved into their new home was the peace and quiet. Thanks for reminding me of that moment, Brent.
