I was going to say I'd love to see inside your mind
then I read this again and thought better I stay blind
Your imagination goes to places I've never been
As it sketches up descriptions I have never seen

You have a way with words that's so very bloody clear
Conjuring up your magic your fav'rite feast is fear
I'll never be a fan of the horrid things you write
I'll always be in envy you're the Fuhrer of fright

I really salute your skill you're up there with the best
And I congratulate you on winning this contest
With Steven King you're up there the master of the game
Horror is your genre, if I don't sleep your to blame

Dean your really are a genius when it comes to this genre

    Hah, well, I am truly flattered by your poetic response, Bob. That was excellent! LOL...

    I was sorry to hear you'll never be a fan, though. I don't wish to alienate anyone, regardless whether or not horror is their genre of choice. I find I can learn much from writers of all different types of genres, and have fanned many who are not or have never written a horror poem or story.

    Thanks again for such an outstanding review, Bob. That was really, really cool!

    Happy trails! ~Dean

    I agree with your statement about learning and that is one of Fanstory's greatest attributes. There are so many teachers, yourself included, here.
    I salute your writing, you really are highly skilled

Brilliant presentation, and congratulations on another win, Deano.

You sometimes make 'scary' seem great fun...well, if we don't take it too seriously.

Excellent (despite the meter glitches LOL)

Your friend, Ray.

Laugh out Loud ! I am glad you are happy...for me that's writing fantasy something others don't like at all. But I get so excited about getting my character out of tough situations...Can I borrow one of your cobwebby manic dudes ?
God bless and Happy Thanksgiving...my husband is smoking turkey and four hens ...come to Buford Georgia about One in the morning ..that's when the fun will start..
God bless

    Ha-hah, well, kiwijenny, people loathe horror as much or more than they do fantasy stories, but I happen to enjoy both genres. And sure, you can borrow one of my ghastly geeks any day of the week, my friend, LOL...

    Tell your husband that smoking is very bad for him, but smoking turkeys and hens is just down right cruelty to animals. How does he get them in his mouth, and don't they squirm as he lights them up? Cigarettes are bad enough...geesh!

    I sincerely hope you and yours have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving as well, my friend! :}

    You think he should try camel

    I kinda think many already smoke Camels, but I ain't too sure about it. I'll have to look into that... :}

    The smoked turkey and chickens were FABULOUS nothing tastes as good as meat you have to tend every hour on the hour son and son in law and hubby did it in shifts.....I loved the fruit of their shift work :o) Happy Thanksgiving

I continue to be amazed at the poetic ability of someone so attached to shock and fear, so different from my usual preferences. Love that phrase, "scaring you as white as winter's snow." It is a totally different take on the usually trite "white as snow." I see you won the contest, so you don't need my good-luck wishes. Congratulations instead. Jeanie Mercer

    Hah, thanks, Jeanie, and I'm pretty shocked that I could amaze anyone, especially you.

    I guess what we're passionate about is related directly, in large part, to our experiences. Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Joe R. Landsdale, just to name a few, have all made a very lucrative living dabbling in the halls of horror, and yet they are such amicable, even funny, men.

    I truly appreciate your thoughtful review, as always, my friend.

    Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you creator of horror poems - I now see what makes you tick. Ugh! Well written with good rhyme scheme. Nice use of alliteration in 'crumbling corpse' 'ghastly ghouls' and 'white as winter's'- Good Luck in the contest - warm regards Dorothy x

    Thanks, Mary, but I'm not so sure about the "winning entry" part, although I'm very happy to know that you think so. I hope folks who read it fully realize it was all done tongue-in-cheek. I'll admit, however, that scaring people does give me a great deal of pleasure. It means I've done my job properly, LOL.

    Thanks again, and I hope you & your entire family have a very happy Thanksgiving.

This skillfully written poem describes what you see as your see as you essence. I never think about creepy things and have nightmares often. Makes me wonder what horrors stalk your dreams.

    Lots of 'em, seaglass, and for a very good reason. One day, I'll write about my near-death experience, but that's a story for another time, if I find the courage to do so.

    Thanks very much for your review. I hope you & yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving together. :}

Some people love to be scared witless. This is very well written and illustrated. With my creative imagination, Im best off leaving horror alone. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.,

Well done, you mystery poet, you! What makes you tick is laid out and cleverly stated in this well written poem.

Your alliteration: really/rather; simple/see; passions/prick; ghastly/ghouls; darkest/dirge; (just to name a few! Your rhyming is perfect, and your well-metered words have a great flow. Great simile in your last line.

Love it -- a strong entry for the contest. Best of luck.
And -- have a Happy, Hair-Raising Thanksgiving! Alana
