I'm very happy you found a house. Isn't it funny how structures can call out to you? (Girls, girls! Come and love me!) Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, and now you're dealing with the "warts". I will send positive energy your way and hope you will find this project worthwhile and heartwarming. Loved the style of poem you chose to describe your "new baby." Perfect.

Hi...I knew you would understand that 'he'(I think) calls to us. It sounds so fey, but we need each other. And yes, it will be stressful and yes we have no money..but hearts don't run on bank balances...one day I will offer it out to those on the Site...a week writing retreat, food costs plus donation. Part of our puch in this is: most retreats are just so expensive, they are geared for people with incomes above middle class money...so we want to be able to provide for those with heart and less money, ..writers, spiritual practitioners...and...
We will have work retreats as well...chop wood carry water...4 hours of work and time to meditate, write, go for quiet walks...no fee..
thanks again, for reading,
padumachitta

I love your dream, Pad. Somehow I think you'll put it all together.
One small thing: If I pay, can I get out of chopping wood? LOL
-
Hi...all by donation...time, money...cooking?
:-)padumachitta

I'll cook!

Hey, heart dreams never are practical. But if you did not try, you would just be kicking yourself. You really cut loose with this one and I like your bold strides across the page. I know you hate to hear this, but there are a few editing spots. Ou r- an inadvertent space; no knowing- not knowing; penny- pennies. As a whole, the poem is great, especially the second to last stanza. Good luck. And watch out for contractors, especially those who bid low and promise the moon. And never pay cash up front.

I hope the money changes hands soon so it will be legally yours. Eventually you'll bring in enough money from retreats but I know for now it will be hard and hard work. Thanks for sharing you tale with us:)

Hey Teresa. Thanks for the review and kind comments. Mom goes into the clinic today, it is a hard time. Not what all of us wanted, but she is getting worse and the 'black dog' is starting to take her down at the throat.
It will be hard work and since we don't have money, it will be stressful there as well....but we haveheart and vision and really want to have a sfe place for peopel to stay...for writing retreat, mediation, spiritual stop overs...and not charge more than we have to.
Most retreats are so dang expensive...geared for those with money often...we want to try and only charge expenses(food, electricity, wood) then ask for donations..ask people to pay what they can
We will have work retreats..chop wood carry water..4 hours work in return for accomadation...
so this got long...
Hope you gals had a great weekend...and Thanksgiving...

I'm sorry about your Mother in law. I'll pray for her:) Your home and retreat will be a wonderful place and you will make it all work - of that I am sure.
The weekend was good:) Hope yours was as well.

nice poem, padumachitta. Can't tell by the photo if it is something you cook on as well.
The poem is well versed and I hope all goes well with your dreams. I once had a dream, and it kind of was set aside, but another has taken its place. And so, let it be.
It's too bad, Fanstory has problems uploading some pictures.
Wish you well and pray that all things work out for you. Hugs,
DREW xx

Hey Drew..thanks for the review. Yep, we can and will cook on it. There is an electric stove as well...but why waste power...
It is a crazy thing to do at my age...but what the heck..

Not crazy at all. I cooked on my newly purchased wood cookstove until I moved to the basement suite. I loved it. Just have to remember to move things around so they don't burn if the fire is hot. Enjoy!

Yo Jax.. the woo hoo made me smile and warmed my heart! First house at 55...and in a foreign country...
Mom goes into the clinic today, sad but necessary, we can but hope she can come up a little from the 'pit of despair'.
Thanks again for such a wonderful and positive review.

Hi padumachita
Buying a hundred year old house is a brave move, and living in it while renovating it is going to produce a lot of stress.

Hey. Thank you for your review and supprotive words. It is a risk, but so many have helped me in my life, I wish to give back. People need a place of safety, even if only for a short time. padumachitta

To padumachitta,
CONGRATULATIONS! A house holds much value to a couple that is starting out or as you have expressed as charity to those that can only dream of what it would be like. But you have made it possible for some people to believe that there still is loving individuals out there that still love to help and give freely to eliminate a lot of suffering and hopelessness.
May you be greatly blessed for your selflessness.

It is very stressful just buying a house, let alone everything you are doing and wanting to do. They do say it is one of the 2 most stressful things in life, the other is losing a loved one. So I wish you the best of luck with your ideas and hope they work out for you. :) Sandra
