I loved this one. Been reading lots of sonnets lately and I like them. They and yours particularly have a dreamy vibe to them. Beautiful presentation as well! Bravo and good luck. xoxo Kiwi

A truly beautiful sonnet in its offerings. Being still is a necessity of life at times when it counts most, but also at any time. Soaking in the wonder of nature's creations helps to avoid taking things for granted. So lovely. Good luck in the contest. JJ

What a beautiful Ode Sonnet to the majesty that can be seen just by looking at the wonders the world offers us :-)

Sunset in fall, glowing orange/peach/gold on the horizon -

serenity imposed :-)

Very nicely done!

Jmf4119,
Tactful alliteration's("lingering fall leaves")("still night settles"),
Outstanding picture that represents the poem(" There is stillness in the evening's mellow sky")
Resourceful creative and inventive imagination.
Impressive descriptive and expressive imagery("But as the still night settles on the land and ghostly shadows creep into my mind/and far-off sounds of day become like sand.")
Excellent rhyming(assonant, ceasural, masculine, and leonine rhymes)
Superb iambic pentameter rhythm and tempo:
These are just some of the valued qualities and traits that I found from reading your poem.
Your poem sets the mood which is very tranquil and full of serenity. It creates the reader to become sublime.
Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always my friend.
Alex

Hi,
really enjoyed the peaceful feeling you convey in this poem. It also has a great imagery around the nature, and liked the mention of Romeo and Juliet. beautiful final lines.

Hi Jmf this is a very well written piece of poetry in the style of a Shakespearean sonnet. Beautiful imagery and I like your inclusion of Romeo and Juliet who Shakespeare famously wrote about. Well done.

The photo is mesmerizing and perfectly illustrate your heartfelt words of thanks. We are graced by visions like this - they are gifted to us and we forget to look for them and to enjoy what is simply put before us each day. Smelling the roses is lovely, but it is this visual that makes us know there is someone watching out for us. AT=/

A very lovely and spiritually charged sonnet, Mystery Poet. The rhythm and rhyme in this were very well composed. I felt your first stanza was the most striking...

"There's stillness in the evening's mellow sky
as wonder fills me with a quiet glow
it permeates my soul with each new sigh
like Juliet awaiting Romeo."

Breathtaking...

I hope you do well in the contest.

Good luck! :}

A beautiful entry into this contest. The picture is amazing. I loved reading your sonnet with the references to nature--the sunset, the leaves, the meadow, and the breeze. I see no changes. Your poem had great flow. I know that has something to do with the format, but I cannot explain it any other way. Good job and good luck in the contest.

This is a poetic way of saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But you have written it in a very clever and extremely poetic parlance. I enjoyed reading this well written piece of poetic art... John
