I hope that the summer of our lives exists in constant repetition once we leave this veil of tears at winter's end. To those memories!

Great job, TK, with this beautifully penned poem about losing a loved one after spending many seasons together. Abcb rhyme scheme is perfect and the imagery of the two empty rocking chairs touches my heart. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much my friend Many have said same about the conjure aspect of this. Next one will hopefully put a simile where now there is a tear.

A very moving poem with good abcb rhyme throughout. May be biographical or not but it is well written with empathy. It is sad that this is reality. One member of a couple at some time loses the other. It is not an easy pill to swallow - enjoyed the read of a poem that makes us think. Warm regards Dorothy x

It's a very powerful poem that depicts mortality. The picture is suitable. I like it so much. Especially, the the fist four lines. The image flows with out interruption. Nice comparitions. Thanks for sharing:)

Written so elegantly with a sorrowful touch. Winter seems like a lonely season, and the two rocking chairs in the 3rd verse spells this out so well:
"Two rocking chairs on the porch
Covered by a chilling frost
They sit in silent empathy
As if they know what I have lost"
Nice rhyming and great flow throughout. Thanks for sharing. Les

Thank you very much Les. After seeing two empty rocking chairs on a porch could not help myself to write something with them included. They were the inspiration to write this.

Your poem is full of poignancy for the loneliness with the passing away of the loved one. Winter is the time when everything turns frigid cold not sparing even the mind. The warmth from the past love can fight out the cold as you have nicely narrated.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I live in Hawaii now so those cold winters are not as frigid as they used to be.

This is a truly remarkable composition. It reads smoothly both silently and out loud. The words will tug at the heart strings of everyone who reads it. Those of us who have lost our partner will most likely shed tears for you and for us.
great writing.

This is a poignant poem of loss.
The metaphor of seasons works well
to convey the emotions.
Strong rhyme and even flow.
A beautifully expressed poem. Nancy
