What a beautiful poem about love, and understanding, faith and a mothers love.
I lost my mother when I was 33 years old. It was the first time I lost a family member too. It was as if a part of me died, but the fact was parts of her remained alive in me and my siblings and all our children and we all own her words of faith. They are handed down through generations. Well done sonnet Sanda. I see nothing to change or criticize. Best of luck in the contest, xx Nancy

Excellent advice, beautiful poem. Have a little faith, if we took these words to heart, and simply daily BELIEVED...I'm convinced we'd change our worlds.

Hi Sandra I can relate to your poem. Whenever I felt low or unwell mum would always hug me and make me feel better. Well done and good luck.

When I read this poem I kept thinking of my grandmother. She was much like your mum. Although she did not mention anything about faith, she was a living example of a humble, caring self-sacrificing person. Later in life I was called to believe and now am fully aware of the power of prayer and where my life comes from. Yet, all through the years, my grandmother's spirit has been with me and to this day, I think often of her and her quiet, patient, simple ways. That's how I would like to live, too. Your poem is so touching in its innocence - yes, life brings scary challenges and our mums are no longer here, but their words, ways and power of example are always there to lead us where the true source of power and grace is. Much luck in this contest.

I think most grandmothers were like that, I know mine was, she was so lovely and my grandfather. They had nothing, but they were rich with love. Thank you so very much, Liilia, for your lovely review, and the shiny 6 stars! xsx Sandra

This was really beautifully written, Sandra. It really spoke to me because I always went to my Mum as well, and now she is no longer here. And she always said the same thing to me. Not so much in my growing up years, but later on in life when the struggles became almost unbearable.

Your rhyme and rhythm is really good. alone-own

Thank you so much my friend, for your lovely review. I think our mums had so much wisdom from having to learn for themselves and of course, their mothers had much to offer too. I think we were lucky to have had them. :) Thank you again, Drew. :) xsx Sandra

Your poem of faith as exemplified by your mum's loving care throughout your life and beyond is a testament of the power of prayer.

Lovely, touching piece, Sandra. My parents weren't particularly comforting and didn't show love to their kids very well. Not that they didn't feel it. They were just from a different time and place, growing up in the Great Depression here, where hard work was all that got folks though it. She was a workaholic like my dad... hardly ever sat down to relax. So I had to lose my mother before I realized how much she meant to me, how much I depended on her. I was frankly surprised at the loss I felt when she died.

And, as good as this poem is, I must ask... WHAT THE HECK IS THAT @$%# apostrophe doing in this line?

And only mums' can really understand

Grrr...

But I love you anyway. :)

What ' I see no ' LOL, it's gone, Phyllis. I thought I had to put one there because I was talking about mums in the plural! I will never understand these dots and dashes!! I am sure your mum loved you to bits, probably thought you had an overactive mind, but still loved you!!! Thank you my dear friend for a lovely review and the sweet way you kindly picked out me error!!!! LOL! xxx :)

"I thought I had to put one there because I was talking about mums in the plural! "

Yes, and the rule I have given you many times says you should NEVER use an apostrophe to make a noun plural. NEVER!

You had it backwards, silly girl. But that's part of your charm. :)

LOL, I will have to tell my boys that, my silliness is part of my charm!! I am sure they would agree...hmmm. xxxx

I really appreciated how much faith and trust you put into your mother's words, which clearly have been your rocks over the years. Having faith in someone, especially in times of need, is absolutely priceless! Excellent flow, very good rhyming and beautiful picture. This was very much enjoyed and the best of luck in the contest.

God/Jesus promises to be with us always and to carry our burdens when they become to much for us. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words.
