Ah, Roy, this is a fun and sweet poem about the cat. I particularly like this descriptive line: "Cats are supreme, second only to God." We all know that, of course :)

Your rhyming is perfect, and your words have a great flow. And that picture -- so cute!

Thanks for sharing! Have a great day. Alana

Very funny, cute poem, Roy. I love cats and dogs. Probably dogs a bit more, but if I get a pet, it'll likely be a cat. Either way, it'll require some work.

Roy, I've never seen any flaws in your works, and I don't see one here. This eight-line poem rhymes very well and I like the message!

Peace,

Mike

Hi, Roy,

Kittens are just too cute not to want to cuddle. Cats and dogs are like a 'staple' in one's life. They ground a person.

Such an adorable pix. Nicely presented. Too bad you missed the contest. This would be a great entry.

Cheers & Blessings

If you had written that you wished to be like a dog, I would have agreed. I have never found cats to be friendly, in fact I dislike them intensely. I can only presume you were joking, by the light-hearted language in the poem. Good use of rhyming-a fun read. Faye

I do like cats, we have owned many, and they vary in character as much as humans, I do prefer dogs, but they all have value, we tend to judge them by human values not God's, great review and comments, Faye,

Roy,

Kittens are so very cute. I have always had kittens who grew to be cats. Well, some of them became cats. I had a farm that I called, "The Funny Farm". It had that title for a number of reasons.

Near the beginning of my FanStory membership I wrote a story about my outdoor barn cats. I like kittens and cats, but they don't live around me for very long, so I don't have any cats now. The name of the story is called, "Nine Lives", if you would like to hear about my sweet cats.

The photo of the kitten is sweet and your poetic words are very nicely done. Carole

To royowen,
And I believe that you have all the Fanstorians behind you in your assumption.
Having nine lives they certainly have the right to take a lot more risks and expect everything given to them at a whim.

That's certainly an easier life than being a dog. So much is expected of dogs. All a cat has to do is show up. Excellent AABB rhyme. I like the comparison to royalty. Cats certainly think they're royalty and want to be treated as such. Cats don't even try to please, the way dogs do. They have humans desperately trying to get their attention, and they may grudgingly bestow their favors. Great poem. judi

Thanks Judi for this lovely review and appreciated comments. Somebody once said "dogs have owners, cats have staff!" Blessings, Roy.

You've been reading my mind, or my memoirs Often, either to my wife or our children, I have said I want to be a cat in my next life. They care pampered, rubbed whenever they like, always have the best lap to stand on, have doors opened for them with the quietest meows.

Lovely photo to accompany it as well.

Nice job.

You speak clearly of a spoiled pet feline's almost arrogantly independent manners. To bad you missed the contest. Godd picture, fine poem.
