I agree, I read an article that said that cats believe they are superior to man and he behaves in a way to command our respect and service. I have been observing cats since then and I tend to believe that this is true

Heh, heh! Very, very true, my friend. Never was truer word spoken. You don't own a cat; a cat owns you...if it so deigns you worthy...

I wonder if the last line would have a better flow (I don't know the technical lingo for poetry - is it meter?) if it read, '"in the blink of an eye, I would rather choose that" ? Just a thought. My mind inserted the word automatically as I read before I realised it wasn't there.

Thanks, Roy.

Anthony

Thank you Athony for this great review, I think the syllable police would be on my case if I did'! But thanks fo the tip, it's usually better arranging words, to keep integrity, blessings, Roy.

There, you see! That's why I shouldn't review poetry. I know nothing about it!

No, you do well, I don't know novel writing very well either, I did rearrange the wording, you did well, the syllable count is not super important, but it's part of the overall crafting, and flow and evenish meter! it's one of the few things I'm reasonable at! You keep it up, you'll get to know the quirks, I'll explain if you're not sure, some "drop in" reviewers, give you a bad review, and don't have a clue, never to be seen again, there the ones to watch! Blessings, Roy.

Yeah, had a few 'drop in' reviewers myself... I try not to be one... Thanks, Roy.

Cute poem Roy. Your descriptions fit "purrfectly"!
We've had three cats over the years and I agree with
your poetic assessment.
Nice rhyming couplets and smooth meter. Nancy

Cats certainly seem more often than not to have their 'owners' firmly under their thumb - or would have if indeed they had thumbs. I'd probably have kept both of the last two lines in the first person for continuity - just a thought.

The perfect description wrapped up in a cute little poem!! Very much enjoyed this, especially as a cat owner for over 12 years now. Yup!! The same cat! Our (really MY tho!) "Boy Kitty", named such by my now 16 yr. old, but when she was much much smaller.

And that's a fact by the way, the fact that they really just don't give a damn. Lol. ;) Nicely done!!

This is such a cute little bit of truth! Our cat was indeed queen, she just knew we were there to serve her. Dog's think you are God...cat's think they are God...I love this!

I wouldn't choose the life of a cat - too dangerous getting run over; would be alright if it was a well-loved pussy. Sorry you missed the contest cause this is well-written, cute, loved it. I love cats they are so intelligent. The Egyptians even had them buried with them. On a dig in Egypt, they found 50,000 cat-mummies - that's an awful lot of cats! Well done son.

Ja, I hate when you miss the contest dead line. Some of us take a little longer to jump start the ole gray matter. This would have been a great entry, it's really a fun little piece, and so true. Little bastards really do act like they own the world, ha, ha. Good stuff.

Hi Roy - very short but very sweet - love the picture. You have described the temperament of a cat off pat. They are totally independent and you penned this very well. Good read. Warm regards Dorothy x

Roy;
tactful alliteration("supreme, second")("could but choose"), outstanding picture that represents and complements the poem, effective descriptive and expressive imagery("they're more like a Lord, a queen, or a king, your highness all whims and service we bring."), Inventive and creative but also humorous imagination, excellent rhyming(neither forced nor labored) and superb rhythmic tempo and meter which flow smoothly throughout the writing. These are just a few of the qualities and traits that I found within your poem.
Thank you for giving me a good chuckle and a laugh and for sharing and posting this for everyone.
Alex
