I wish I had a 6 to give you for this one. When I was growing up it never entered my mind that I could do anything other than get married and have children. Not once did I think about getting a job, going to school, not once. This is superbly written and deserves a 6 star rating from everyone. Thank you for putting into words what we all know, deep down inside.

I write about this now and then, mostly to see if I can reach some of those who have not been part of the original movement. Thanks for the virtual 6 and now, how's your foot? Bank?

I am in a lot of pain, and the medication makes me feel yucky so I am not taking it. I went to the American Consulate today and they did nothing other than tell me it was a personal problem. The woman turn her back on me and walked out of the room. I cannot tell you how angry I was.

I think it is wonderful Ingrid. My goal was to be the most perfect wife and mother I could be. I had many jobs thru the years when we were facing financial difficulties, but I was wife and mother first. What a great thing for both parents to be commited to the role that used to fall on mom. LOL Good story. Hear us Roar! LOL Nancy

I think 'putting the family first' was something we all said at the time, but in fact through time, I think we evolved even further. Family was THE ONLY thing that mattered, but it was totally no necessary to say it out loud. Sometimes they had to wait for mom, and that was just a fact of life. And yet when they needed us, we dropped everything.

We learned the hard way we could be many things to many people and still be true to ourselves.

A very interesting and thought provoking article. I would have to agree with your thoughts about men being involved more with there children's lives. I notice it more and more with the younger guys that I work with, but a lot a times it's out of nessicity as it seems that a lot of young women today refuse to accept the traditon role of mother and I don't think it's because of feminism. They want to be mothers, but they don't seem to want the responsibilities that go with motherhood and push it onto their mates. Just some random thoughts. A good article.

Thanks. There are many women in my neck of the woods, that claim all the rights, but want to be NOTHING but mothers, and by that I mean that they get pregnant solely for the government's generous monthly child allotment. Baby Daddy is a term that revolts me. These girls don't want to work but they also don't keep house for one man or have any pride in their domestic contribution, having baby after baby with multiple partners.
