It is an awesome thing when God touches us and redeems our broken lives. The dignity and integrity of recovery is just one of Gods blessings in perhaps the toughest inner journey of our lives. Excellent!

This is different, but that is what writing is all about. All sides should be shown. All is not roses. The deepest sides of failure should also be depicted, in which that has been achieved here. The light, thankfully, usually finds away.
Best wishes,

Wow what a powerful and emotive piece of poetry. I could sense the pain oozing from the poem and the sense of peace as the poem ends,
Until I saw the beauty of God, now I am
never going back
Well done.

crzpnter: scary story. The cutting but not feeling the pain - my head just can't wrap around that. I'm glad that you are back and tend to stay here. You have much to offer the world. Strong writing. livelylinda

This is one of those powerful, first-person poems that take the reader to the razor's edge with the author. We enter where the final act becomes only the final act before phasing into the a new and better existence.

Sometimes the knowledge that there is a greater power that will provide for us when we need it most is comforting. The addict in your poem found peace in death - and in being shown the beauty in life, that had somehow escaped him when he had it.
Faith is a powerful healer, and a powerful asset for one's soul.

Excellent poem! This poem is well written and clearly states the journey of addiction. The words the author uses are strong, heart felt and descriptive. The poem is deep and thought provoking. The artwork is perfect and enhances the theme of this poem.

I view addictions as a desperate need to fill a gaping hole within the person - it takes time, but eventually everyone figures out that the thing they lack is God. There is no more powerful drug than the revelation that HE is all we need. This is beautifully penned and I thank you very much for sharing it with me.

Wow, as a recovering alcoholic I can feel this piece of poetry in my soul. I've felt your words in my heart and saw God myself. This is excellent writing.

I agree addicts are not bad people and make bad choices- we all do at times- I think you sort of left us hanging there- You say you died... and saw God- but then you are making amends?- how in heaven?- you don't say you are alive again... like you skipped a step-
Might think about putting in an addition verse there?
