This is so very good. Children need to have a parent who is standing by so they won;t fall, but willing to let them try new and different things. I was a mother who was in the corner with my kids as they fought their battles, cheering them on. They all turned out to be great adults.

I started to put that very point into Author's Notes, but decided against it as potentially sounding too preachy - I do get discouraged though when I see so many parents try just lifting the kids to the top, never letting them learn the joy of accomplishment and the rewards of hard work. Such a disservice to them in the long run. I appreciate the time you took from your own words to review mine and especially enjoy the stars that make it such a "glowing" review.

Cute picture.
The simple lines and rhymes told a quaint story of a child's small but decisive personal victory.
Thanks for writing.

Thanks for the read and review. I appreciate your taking time with my words that I hope kids would come to recognize on the page and perhaps learn by heart..

This is an excellent entry.. it's interesting to read these poems, some of them are geared for children to read and then some are more written about children, for children. Your's seems to fall somewhere in between I think.. I loved your message of encouragement and faith that this poem brings

I agree and do wish the prompts would be more specific as to whether we should write about children, from the child's viewpoint or something simply to be read to children - although I would hope that the parents would enjoy reading any poem I expected them to read over and over. It is hard to know what type of poem to enter. I am glad you enjoyed this one, regardless.
