Hi Brooke. Such a gracious poem for the gracious Swan/
Very well written and the flow is as smooth as the swan moves.
Really wonderful. Fia

Tell me something, Brooke, dear poet and magnificent one at that: have you been reading my mind? Or are we born to the same family? Under the same star? WHAT?!!! Your poem just made the secret thought I've hidden away PUBLIC! (Hahahahaha - seriously - I WONDERED about swans and that pedalling all along!) :0) (Clever gal. I'm adding that to your Caribean resume...*grin*)

This poem bears a secret as personified by the swan. For life to boast some grace, great effort is required. Grace right down here on earth must be gained by great labor. That is why the smoothness of our lives is so precious or is it just an illusion? -Ekim777

Indeed, what people don't really see or know anything about. Perfect grace is accomplished by a lot of hard work. Great job with this one.

In few words and poetic form you tell a tale. I see swans here on Cape Cod when I drive around town and I like the idea that they are holding secrets from me. This is a poem that makes the reader feel good.

What do their feet look like? Are they not elegantly peddling around to move the beautiful swan? I don't know, but you make me wonder.

Two in the same day - what a bonus!
Who knew that swans were anything but graceful as they glide across the water! Unless of course you get too close and they turn into aggressive b******s!
Yet another excellent one which it has been my pleasure to review - really! :-)

Brooke: a lovely poem to greet my morning. Swans have other secrets, too. I was once in a boat with a few other people. We slowly drew up close to a swan so I could take a good picture. The swan came at me so I couldn't get that picture. They can be so aggressive despite their seemingly calm and smooth demeanor. But, I prefer to just think of their grace and those feet under water propelling them along, working very hard but appearing a ballerina. Nice write. Linda

Wow, good day for me. Two new poems by my favorite poet on FS. Just like this one..no lofty comments needed. Nicely done and a great read. The last verse...very well said and powerful. Been a good morning...two new poems to read from a gifted writer.

Ahh, but it is the sloppy, imperfect struggle of legs underwater that keeps the elegant swan in motion. Grace under pressure- it would be nice to pull that off. Just not all the time.
