Amusing poem to read Brooke. Very good rhyme used. A picture befitting the elegance of swans indeed. Nicely done

Kind regards

Sarah

LOL... How true, swams are truly majestic as they gracefully
glide in the water, they better stay there... I enjoy so much

Swans are so beautiful and graceful. They move and glide on the waters. I like your image for children. We might move with grace but we are setting our own pace. We grow and learn and enjoy life. I think everyone loves the beautiful swans.

Swans are creatures of marvelous elegance, but I actually never thought of the effort it takes to keep them afloat!
Your writing is flawless, as always, but I don't have an six star ratings left at this time. Anyway, I enjoyed your writing, as always.

Great poem. Our town has a huge "Swan Lake" with every specie of swan They are fascinating but I think their "secret" is they have big black feet and waddle when they walk. I loved the way you described their beauty and grace. Great job.

True elegance and grace require effort, and effort unseen is what make elegance and grace one of the best kept secrets. Really great work with this one and I just love the subject. Terrific photo choice too. Lovely poem to start my day with.

One of favorite birds. So peaceful when gliding on the water ways. Needed to read this one this morning. Another one Sawyer, We are floating. Appreciate you, Brooke

You write about one of my fave creatures - the wonderful white swan, Brooke.

Great fun imagination of its feet whirling away at a rate of knots to retain its visible elegance.

Some 'secrets' are best kept to retain elegance, and actions in life in general.

One of the funniest sights, is when someone in the street trips on something and nearly sprawls headlong, but then IMMEDIATELY pretends nothing has happened. HAHAHAHA!

Cheers, Ray xx

I know how much you like your swans, Ray :-)
I have a good story about your last comment. I was in college and taking a walk through the nearby town. A young man rode his motorcycle down the street of our little college town and went to park by the curb. And then, with me and several other girls from our all girl school watching, he very ungracefully managed to wipe out. And he did exactly what you said. He tried, quite unsuccessfully, might I add, to pretend nothing had happened as he picked himself and his bike up off the street. :-) Brooke

    LOL, Brooke. Love the imagery.

It's even funnier in a situation like that where they're obviously slightly injured with cuts and bruises, but try their best not to limp. :-) xx

    LOL, Brookers.

Only because I was accident prone when a daredevil teenager, and have learnt from the experiences I can now look back on and laugh at. :-) xx

This is my second try at reviewing this poem. Sorry if you get two from me. This is so technically and lyrically perfect as all of your poems are. It isn't a 6 because it just doesn't reach out & grab me as so many of your poems do. It doesn't seem fair, really, since all of yours are so much better than most of what I read here. I still want to know when your first collection will be published?

Thank you for your encouragement, Tatarka. There wouldn't be such a thing as a favorite poem if some were not. Even I like some of my poems more than others. LOL :-) Brooke

Interesting children's poem. What secret may this swan have I wonder.I liked these lines best:

and never let on to anyone
the secret I've been keeping.

Well done!

Thank you, Chi - the secret is what the rest of the poem is about, the fact that the swan doesn't just effortlessly glide but is treading under water. I sure hope that comes through. Brooke
