I thought this was a great piece that added a touch of a story to someone who had been a bit of a mystery. I didn't know much about King Richard until I saw the Starz TV show the White Queen. It was interesting take on the Woodville's and how they were tied to the Tudors. I'd definitely be interested in reading more about this.

An interesting portrayal of one of England's most notorious kings. But why were the archaeological crew so in awe of him. Motivated by self loathing and driving ambition, both very human attributes; he killed his very soul, let alone his humanity. The mystery is why everyone held him awe; physically he was a wreck, a hunch back and whose features were thoroughly warped. What did the crew see in him to make them shudder, as they dug him out from under the car park. This was a fitting, cynical end of an affair. Was it that Richard 111 had grasped his fate in his own hands. We certainly live in an unheroic age. -Ekim777

Thank you Ekim777. You take the traditional view of Richard. Henry Tudor or King Henry VII as he became, was every bit as ruthless as Richard, perhaps even more so.

Richard was not a hunch back as you describe and his features were not abnormal. Using a body double we know that his fitness would have been the equal of most man.

Shakesphere depicted him as looking like some kind of mad animal. This was political spin. And has diverted attention away from the atrocities committed by the Tudors.

Your descriptions of Richard are what we were taught at school. I once believed them too, but now realise that they are greatly in error and out of date.

Locating his skeleton was in my opinion the find of the century. :) Mel.

It is not my intention to white wash him, he was a warrior King and at that time you had to eliminate your competition before you wore the crown.

Chapter 2 of the book "OUT OF THE BLUE" "~The Awakening~ part 1.' Of course, I have no intention of changing my mind, neither my stance on this type of thing. I simply do not believe in the here-after, or the past-now. But I appreciate your work. Well done.

Thank you chasennov, for your interesting review. Would it surprise you to know that neither do I. This is just a fictional work made as realistic as my modest ability allows.

I have a certain interest in King Richard since his skeleton was found. :) Mel.

You are most welcome. In that case I find your work even more interesting. Keep on keeping on. Regards.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this first part of this well written story. it was fast moving and did send a shiver down my back, although this may of been helped by a cold windy November night in sussex! i'll be going straight to part two, after this review

For the second time in a row, I was to within the last couple words of my message on your review, and poof, my computer screen popped back to the previous chapter, leaving this massage block blank. It must be my dead wife trying to control what I have to say. Since she couldn't do it in life. LOL. Seriously, Thanks for another outstanding fictional chapter that I believe to be sporadically sprinkled with truths. Great job. :-)

Hi write hand blue,

Now that would really be a breakthrough in archaeology, to get the dead to speak to the archaeologists ... I can't help feeling the revelations and corrections would shatter a lot of the mythology laid down, and still influencing 'interpretation' of artefacts.

Thank you Patrick for your interesting review. If only Richard could speak. His bones have answered some questions however. :) Mel.

Somehow, I think I read these two chapters out of order. No harm done though.
Your dialogue is excellent, portraying your characters well. This is fascinating how you are combining fact and fiction. Fine reading.

Hi Eric1, It was the recovery of his skeleton and the way it was discovered that really interested me. That was almost supernatural in itself. LOL :) Mel.

This is a very interesting tale. I like crisp and precise style it is written. From several angles, as if a recounting of a true story.
