A very clever kids numbering poem using worms. Liked the basic 8-6 cadence, although a few verses were off. You came up with a several creative scenarios.

One worm remained as stars came out,
one worm and only one,
to crawl where there had once been ten
when day had just begun.
again, a wonderful poem with great rhythm and rhyme - always a pleasure.
Greetings from WET Wiltshire - hope all is well with you, my friend.

Bless you. Another first grade poem. I know my munchkins will love this one and I will have them do artwork for the stanzas.

This poem has a nice rhythm to it when reading out loud. I always think your count downs are so very clever - this one is no exception! :) Maria

Worms can't drown, I rotfl with this one.
The life of a worm is not easy at all. That's why we have to appreciate the good things in life.

This is a well rhymed and metered counting poem. It is perfect for a pre-school class. It shows the uses of worms and the fate of those who don't pay attention to the world arround them.

Hi Brooke
Gorgeous image ... life goes on ... I always feel sorry for the little worms ... they do no harm to anyone. They don't even carry diseases. Then I go and feed slugs and snails to my chickens ... and enjoy my chicken's delight. The mystery of life is much to ponder. lol
Love your counting poems as much as the children do. Sawyer should be a math whizz with all this early instruction ... or a biologist or maybe an environmentalist ... what a world he has to discover.
As usual great rhyme and rhythm. Lots of little worms squiggling around in the morn ... quite an eventful day for most of them. Not so many worries in my worm farm ... they just get to eat all day long. lol
Great poem. Always fun. Hugs - Lovi xoxox

Hi Brooke
Always a pleasure. I did eat a worm once ... on a dare. I always feel I owe the worm community some kind of retribution. lol Fortunately I've not come across any giant, killer, man-eating worms ... so perhaps I'm forgiven. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

I would rather DIE a thousand deaths than eat one worm LOL

You really shine best in children's poetry, again, this deserves six stars. I think I have told you this before, I am sounding like a broken record, but that is the truth. Thanks for sharing, God bless.

A great counting poem for any child and adult. In each part of the verse, there is a lesson to be learned and to learn well too.
Be weary of the pitfalls and learn to be wise in all we do. Never be too carefree to understand that danger lurks in every corner of our lives. The worms have learned their lessons well, but have we?
In our daily existence, this story of the ten worms will somehow open an unseen door about the perils that we can face in every situation and caution is much needed.
Great write and well conceived.
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

Hi Brooke,
It was a pleasure to read another counting poem. Each verse was plainly written with a piece of advice and even children will understand this message in simple terms for them to learn what they can expect from life as they grow.
Life in simple terms has always been your forte in writing, smiles.
Have a great weekend.
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

Having taught Pre-school, I would recommend this be turned into a colorful children's book. They love these backward counting poems. Children are also fascinated with worms. I once asked if they knew the signs of Spring. One answered "Wet worms on the sidewalks?"
