Fun little Halloween read. Brave little tyke indeed! He's a man who know exactly what he wants and the path to the goal is straight and narrow. Love the last line. I guess you've reached the limit of your Halloween poems for the year. Fun, happy go lucky read tonight.

Thanks so much, Donya - yep, I need to take a rest on the dark until I'm in the mood again next year :-) Brooke

This is adorable - kids are taught to be fearful - that's why they pick up snakes and big bugs - until a parent screams like a lunatic - then they learn to be afraid of them. I think it must be much the same with Halloween - at different ages of course, but, they are blank slates till we get them and make decisions without their input. Jean

Thanks so much, Jean - yep, Sawyer's mommy LOVES Halloween, so the only thing he picks up on is how much fun everyone is having. :-) Brooke

Brooke, What a great poem and wonderful story of Sawyers Halloween. Kids are so funny. It's all about the candy isn't it? Great job, I really enjoyed this one. Judy

Judy, thanks so much. He was so excited during the day yesterday that he sang in his crib during his entire nap time. This is the first time in his 30 months of living that he has not slept during naptime. LOL Brooke

Brooke;
I noticed in the picture the headless woman and Sawyer just walking past and waiting for the candy. Thank you for the authors notes it did help in understanding the picture and the poem.
Rhyming was done well and neither forced nor labored and also it helped with the rhythmic flow.
The imagery was very descriptive and also eloquently expressive throughout the poem.
Thank you for sharing and posting and may the Lord be with you Brooke.
I liked reading from you authors notes that he blew it that one the monstrous figure a kiss.
Alex

This is adorable! I sure hope Sawyer had a fun time trick or treating. I know when I was a kid Halloween was my favorite time of the year. Great job on the poem!

Ah, I see the bride. Truth is, Sawyer didn't notice because he would have to look up. Now the skeleton was at eye level. Love his response to that! Too bad his mom didn't get it on camera.

Oh and he is a brave little soul. You see, that's what innocence does for a body. Those yucky things can't get to me attitude. Great write and wonderful moment in time. What a lil love-bug! xoxo d

Dear Brooke,

So Beau got off his horse after chasing Icabod (sp) Crane and came to your house with his head in his hand. (LOL) Be gone and no more of you when he came to your door.

Warm regards,

Winslow

Loved the notes on Sawyers Halloween. Only a litter one focused on treats could walk past the horrors without a second glance. Glad to here he had a wonderful Halloween.

Blessings

I have a feeling that even without candy in view, Sawyer is far from a sissy. I was the same way as a kid- monsters never scared me. Such a brave grandson. Your poem captures the spirit of Halloween which was sorely missed here- we had one trick-or-treater. Yes, the weather was bad, but still..

Thanks so much, ravenblack. A few weeks ago at Magic Mountain Sawyer went on his first roller coaster ride - not one of those tiny toddler rides but one for families to ride together. He plastered himself against his momma and gasped a lot, but when the ride ended, all he had to say was more more again again. LOL No wusses in our family. LOL :-) Brooke

Good for him! I never shied away from coasters either. Just wait until he decides to go sky diving (I did).

His mother celebrated her birthday a year before she got pregnant with Sawyer. Her husband, God bless his sensible soul, refused to go with her, so her brother manned up. LOL
She has always been the family dare devil :-)
