Hi Brooke
I'm glad to hear that Sawyer has his priorities set. Candy is first and foremost on the list. That's what Halloween is all about... free candy and getting dressed up, pretending has its reward.
I had to work the last three days at the drug store, including Friday night! First time I think I ever had to work on Halloween. I always give the candy out while my wife keeps the cats from running outside. So, by herself for the night, she turned the lights off and hid in our bedroom until I came home at 9:30PM. You should have seen the witch that came into the drug store though...my goodness, she looked so good! I gave her a thumbs up! I've got my own ghost upstairs at the drug store, but she didn't show up for Halloween! Too busy, I guess. (I haven't had much chance to get into FS this past few days. But I did write a poem to reflect my recent duties.)
Intent on candy, I can just picture the no-nonsense attitude of little Sawyer,
"Be gone, ye bride of horror,
without your hapless head" ... nice alliteration with "hapless head".
Very cute poem. I enjoyed!

thanks so much, Kimbob - I live in an apartment complex that is too strewn about and requires people to climb stairs to reach half the units, so nobody comes here. Not one call all night long - I don't even have to pretend to be not home. My sister got 80 in her residential neighborhood though :-) Miranda asked Sawyer earlier today if she could please have one of his pretzels, part of his loot. No, he told her. They're too spicy for you. I'll eat them. LOL Brooke

When we first bought our house back in 79, we used to get over 80 kids on Halloween. But every year, the number shrank. I asked our neighbour, Tim Nelson (who plays bass guitar with me in the worship team), how many kids they had on Friday night ...only ten!

LOL! So cute! I've read where very successful business people are totally motivated by gain and not at all negatively impacted by fear. I think Sawyer will be very successful. LOL!
"My focus is on candies, not your attempts to scare," You say it so much better. Well done, Brooke.

Brooke, how cute. So focused on his objective of
candy he didn't notice much else. Some children
at a young age don't like dressing up in the costumes
and if they were met at the door by someone in a costume,
they'd be ready to run.

LOLOL very funny, Brooke
cute poem for a very cute and adventurous young boy. I can identify with his focus on candy at that age! If only I could be a bat hanging in a tree watching him go around the neighborhood :) what an attitude your poem gives him! Loved it!
All the best,
Rodger

Thanks so much, Rodger :-) The funny thing is that he was only interested in the goal of getting the candy. In the days since Halloween he has been content to eat only a couple of lollipops :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke :)
I love the humour in your short poem - I particularly enjoyed the last couple of lines! It's funny how the kids have tunnel vision when it comes to goodies!
I love your author notes - how cute that Sawyer blew the skeleton a kiss - such a sweetie!
Kindest regards as always, Debra :)

You have captured the fun your "brave little hero" had very well in this short poem, Brooke. I like how he becomes the speaker in this poem and tells the headless "bride of horror" exactly how he feels.

Not only a great poem, but the picture is priceless. I love that he blew the poor wiggly skeleton a kiss. That boy will go far. You are still on top of your game. I have been away for awhile but ready to get busy again. Your work is inspiring.
