That is a very good way to look at retirement bbut for some of us we are just getting started in life and hoping to do something productive. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks Misrael for your nice review. I'm planning something productive, too. Working on my first novel still. :o) The only difference now is that I have no excuses to not finish it.

Ah, yes, justjo66, retirement is a major blessing! I retired about four years ago, and I haven't missed working one single day. You didn't mention that you now have time to write poetry :)

Your acrostic has a nice flow and doesn't seem forced. Every line is a perfect description of retirement -- take it from me. One change, perhaps: "Reveving" should be "Revving."

Thanks for sharing. Alana

    Thanks for your kind review and the correction in spelling. It's been fixed. I even used spell check. LOL. Goes to show you... Yes, I do have time now to write. Still working on my first novel I started last year. Hopefully, will get it edited this year and published. Now, I have no excuses. ;o)

This has a very serence and comforting feel to it. Enjoyed the front porch. Each day is truly a blessing. The title is just perfect for this. Well done. Les

This poem is in perfect acrostic form. It flows smoothly and is interesting to read. Enjoy your retirement and good luck in the contest.

    Thank you Teresa for your kind review and wishes. I wish everyone the joy that I feel. After 30 years in nursing, I feel my muse coming back. I thought I had lost it for a while.

I thought you did a great job with this little free verse.. it is so full of warm emotion and that comes out loud and clear in tour words.. yet they are soft and full of promise.. one little typo there in line 5 with spelling of revving.. thought you may want to jump in and fix that for this fine piece of poetry..

    Thank you Dawny53 for reading and reviewing my work. Yes, I love sitting on my porch in the mornings and evenings. Sometimes, too much. :o) I have fixed the typo. Thanks for bringing my attention to it. I even used spell check. :o)

I enjoyed your well-penned acrostic on retirement;
Nice audio and visual imagery:
"Enjoying my morning coffee";
"hear the sounds of morning";
Nice alliteration:
"Moments and memories".
Family creates memories to last a lifetime.

Hi there Jo...been a long time. I have had to adjust to retirement myself due to a disability. I guess I just wasn't ready to be on the sidelines, but I have to admit that I love being here with Missy more than I did working twelve hour days lol. I loved your acrostic, especially the line where "Every cell is at peace" I can relate to not having the pressures of nursing hanging over head. Enjoy you new freedom and peace of mind. Oh, I think maybe in line five you meant to say revving up. This was a terrific acrostic

    Thanks so much Dave for your review. Yes, I thought I might have lost my muse this past year. Sorry for your disability. I know sometimes things crop up unexpected that can throw us for a loop, but I also know God always has a better plan. I think my muse is slowly returning. I have been working some on my first novel (still). Thanks, too, for catching my typo.

There ya go! That is what it is all about! I am glad you understood enough about retirement that you could write of the peace, the connection with nature, and the blessing of a rest. Nicely done!
