I wrote Jesus a letter. Children are so literal, that this solution is perfect to keep the monsters away. Prayers often seem intangible, so a letter is terific.
I really think this little poem could be helpful for lots of families.
Well done.

This poem is me when I was a little girl. And yes, I prayed to Jesus to help me get rid of the monster behind the curtains. Definitely struck a nerve with me. Good poem.

I LOVE THIS!!! This is the 1st children's poem I've read on here and as a Mother of two little girls, you've actually just inspired me to try some of my own out for the first time ever. If you can inspire someone from your writing - that's phenomenal to me - that's why this gets a 6. PS- I LOVE that he wrote Jesus a letter and the artwork is beyond perfect for this! Congrats & thank you!!!

Thank you JPilcher for this most inspiring review and for the elusive 6 stars. I am honored that this piece is so well received. The child that this helped was the biggest reward I could have ever received for this piece. God bless and thank you again.

You just gave me chills!! Those children are more than just blessings, aren't they?! ;)

I forgot the title part I wanted to talk about!! The "Excuse me monster" is brilliant and shows that this child was raised right!! With manners!!! ;)

Ahhh. . .the ritual of banishment!
The power of faith in deliverance :-)
I can imagine many a young child
taking splice in this :-)
Nicely done :-)

This is very authentic in nature, in that it genuinely seems to be from someone young in years. The encouraging message whether intended or not, is that the belief in a higher being will banish imaginary monsters and give you the courage to face uo to the very real ones as well.

This was a fun poem to read. I love how he reallized the toys would be in his closet in the moring. Great imagery and the voice of the child seemed authentic. Good rhythm and flow. Gretchen

Precious and few are the comforting words in this poetic verse. I do think a child of four would ask Jesus to keep him safe the monsters that lurk in the darkness of night. Your sentiment touched my heart. Good luck in the contest.

Very interesting. This does a great job of showing how small children are frightened by the idea of monsters hiding in the closet or under the bed. Sometimes adults tell stories that frighten the children. Excellent rhyme in this, and you express things the way a child would be feeling them. Writing the letter to Jesus is a great idea for the little guy. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Love the tale in your author's notes.
Love the emphasis of this from a child's point of view as we have all been there, and I dare say some of us are still.
One for the kids.
Good write.
