You describe another example of our shameful past. Nothing can make up for these transgressions, but I hope a Congressional investigation at least acknowledges the wrongs. I admired your powerful storytelling, addition of rhymes and appeal to our sense of sound as well. Thank you for sharing another precious, black-and-white photograph too. Cheers- Joan

Very well done, heartbreaking. A terrible travesty to our native people and it's good that we remember. Concise and clearly written for your readers.

Deeply appreciate. Somewhat personal but thought the readers should know who the real savages were. Sad time for America. Thank you much

Excellent rhythm and flow in this poem. You convey the relentless destruction that took place as the people tried to stop it in vain. So much of history is needlessly violent and cruel because of greed and prejudice. Thanks for sharing your informative notes with this well-written poem.

That is a part of history I never knew. What a tragedy and how powerfully you present it. Thank you for sharing this slice of Americana which surely needs to be told and investigated so it can be laid to rest.

This work has reached the exceptional level

The art work to me tells us
how cruel these people were treated,
human beings like you and me.

History has been cruel to many
even today and tomorrow until
love flows everywhere on earth.

Hi,

History shows time and again how the Native Americans have been mistreated when the west was settled, and treated less than human.

I've worked with many Navajo and Hopi. One of the many things I respect about the the Native Americans---their ties to their people, and how they still hold to tradition of their culture. It's a beautiful thing to witness.

I enjoyed this very much. Nicely done.

Good luck in the contest.

Cheers & Blessings

Ah. Personal. Perhaps you have Indian blood in you. The impact is twice as powerful when told from the Mother's POV.
Stoic, she is, while the setting around her talks--the wind wails, sabers clang, etc. But at the end, she breaks down.
Imagination finding out a new truth after all these years. A passionate overpowering read.
