Love the congruence of these two images:

'scattering light rays'
'...gray wispy smoke signals...'

Fascinating. This is an excellent Tanka, and I wish you good luck with it in the contest, BG.

Hi, Karen.
What a super poem that captured the beauty of the morning sunrise, such a tranquil time of day. The picture you took is beautiful and really reflects so well the words expressed in your poem.
Bye

    Thanks, Rosalyne. It was a breath-taking moment on top of the mountain. Also breath-taking climbing the mountain but well worth the effort. lol

A beautiful thought: "send gray wispy smoke signals of peace to the human heart" love it! For a tanka this is just fantastic. Well crafted. Good luck with the contest. Les

The dawning of a new day holds many promises; some good, some bad. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

What better reward to greet you on anew early morning hike. Truly amazing and your haiku did it justice.
Smoke signals of peace to the human heart. That is beautiful. I think that will be my little Mantra for this afternoon.
Good luck with contest

You are so right. I think about this all the time. Nature is trying to send us a message - our peace is right under our nose...nature's beauty is proof enough that God's alive eh? Thanks for inspiring with this piece. -Nina

This work has reached the exceptional level

Karen;
the combination between the picture and your very well composed poem is truly deserving of a six or even higher.
The imagery is really demonstratively descriptive as well as exquisitely expressive especially on your description of the sunrise. The picture that you have taken was done very well and you probably will know I did hear from you authors notes that it did not give it justice. That is usually the case when one sees it for real.
Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always my friend.
Alex
